Another involuntary credit card being closed- Lowes/ Synchrony

That's really the best advice. Payment history (35%) and amount owed (30%) account for 2/3rds of your score. By comparison, length of credit history 15%. Pay your bills on time, don't rack up a huge amount of debt, and the rest takes care of itself. Common sense. Opening new lines of credit...

    Yellow H11 halogen bulbs

Because to lay folk, "white" = "brighter" and that's what sells. But vision is a more complex concept than people understand, or the marketing wants to push.

    Roof Racks

I'm cheap, and have resisted paying the exorbitant sums for a piece of plexiglass and some miscellaneous hardware. What I do is spiral wrap a rope, or cord, around the front bar to reduce noise (vortex shedding). Might not do any favors to reduce drag, but does mitigate some noise, and dirt cheap.

Another involuntary credit card being closed- Lowes/ Synchrony

One of the bigger issues is that a single internal metric, used to assess risk by lenders, has been turned into and promoted as a pseudo social-credit score. Worse, many don't know what it encompasses, how it is used, and resist gaining a better understanding, while harboring an unhealthy...

    2025 Mobil 1 Rebate

A pretty clear picture has been painted. I know I've tried to be crystal clear about my experience. The main takeaways for the 2025 offer seem to be 1) don't rely on the examiner to discern that you've made two purchases in the same transaction, and accurately determine the rebate amount due...

    Dumb sounding race sponsorship

LVMH is the largest luxury brand company in the world. It's a ten-year, ten-figure sponsorship, and about far more than ugly luggage. It's why the timing and scoring now carries TAG-Heuer branding, and why the podium sprays Moët champagne. And probably Hennessy cognac in the lounges. Their...

    2025 Mobil 1 Rebate

Beware -- on the myprepaidcenter.com site, ad blockers can interfere with the activation process. It wasn't an issue for the virtual card, but the hard card wouldn't activate with a blocker active. If there are issues, don't hesitate to call, or contact them at [email protected]. They do...

    Advance Auto/DieHard Battery Major Leak

The Die Hard pictured on top is a Clarios; only they use those contoured shipping protection terminal caps, flanking that dinky handle. I recall when those cases first appeared circa maybe 2012-2015. The top was so clean and sleek-looking, at least in shipping configuration. The AAA on bottom...

Pop Up Sprinkler Heads that don't SUCK?

My experience with Toros has been mediocre. Not by choice, just what the landscaper installed. As they age, they eventually bind and refuse to pop up. Tried to revive them with Syl-Glide, which worked, for a limited period, before it would lose effectiveness. Fitting, I suppose. Peas in a...

Walmart removing self checkouts, reported results include significant reduction in theft

Walmart would prefer that their customers use Walmart Pay, via their app. They're large enough to not care about any potential shopper resistance, and TBF, there are so many ways to make payments now, it's not a practical issue for most people. However, like Costco, Walmart despises the...

    Mobil1 3 pack, 5 quart at Walmart

It's not too far off paying regular WM price combined with Mobil's current rebate offer. Without the hassle or shenanigans. However, if one were to try to submit for the rebate on the 3-jug box lot, it might cause the examiners' heads to explode, judging by how they've handled things this year.

Walmart removing self checkouts, reported results include significant reduction in theft

Walmart does what's best for Walmart, and that's not necessarily a bellwether for the rest of the retailers. Even if it means they're an outlier, as the sole remaining large retailer to not accept NFC payments. On the whole, I prefer the machines at any store, since the majority of time I only...

    DIY mail slot catcher solution?

Any intrepid BITOGers have a DIY solution to catch mail from a sectional garage door mail slot? Presently, it just falls into a bin on the floor, which is only slightly better than simply being scattered on the floor. This thing actually seems like one of the more clever and well-conceived...

    I drove my first electric - 2025 BMW i4 M50

Even numbers used to be limited to coupés. BMW toyed with the idea of rebadging the 3er coupe as a 4-series as far back as the E36. The i4 and 430/440 are fastback sedans, and kind of swoopy, so they call them Gran Coupés, at least in 430/440 ICE form. M50 because M = sporty for anything now...

Would you buy a new Mitsubishi?

This can be an issue, even in large metro areas. As a niche marque, dealers come and go more frequently, and those that are around don't necessarily have much experience working on the cars, or having parts in stock, especially if they're an afterthought part of a larger store. The vehicles...

NAPA Second Saturday Sale discontinued at company owned Euless, TX store

NAPA's battery replacement warranties have always lagged, even before others began to weaken theirs. Supply chains differ by region, and at any given time, what is on the rack is what is on the rack, whether Clarios, EP, Korean, or whatever. For everyone, not just NAPA. And as with every...

Simple Green Pro HD vs ?????

For the record, SG quantifies "prolonged" as > 10 minutes. I've lived dangerously and used the regular formula on some underbody heat shields with baked-on oil, and it was quite effective.
