    How to tax EVs

Well, that's like what CA has now. A flat fee. We need to fo better because the low drivers subsidize the high drivers. There has to be a true up of some kind. Just my opinion.

    How to tax EVs

If you allow estimated mileage, you need a true up every other year or whatever... And weight. Needs enforcement... I say post annual mileage via cell phone app or on board electronics.

    Model y serviceability by owner?

Yes, if they have them. I think the part procurement problems were mainly in the earlier years, but ya never know.

    How to tax EVs

You wonder why Hybrids, EVs etc sell so well here. Years back, the Prius was the #1 selling car in CA for like 10 years running. Of course, the computer lane benefit didn't hurt either... Prices are way down right now, dunno why. I put rag in the Tundra the other day for $4 per gallon! I'm...

As long as you have time to ride out the bumps, I would absolutely have a portion in tech. Remember, high tech is a roller coaster. Here's my old company; I started in the early 90's. Sometimes you get lucky. I am a long term investor, because of the roller coaster. Lam is a major player in...

Fascinating chart of five-year mortgage rates

what's amazing to me is, even though rates have risen (of course that's relative), interest write-offs are limited, etc, I thought home prices around here would take a beating. Nope. I understand I live in a unique place. All in, I'm glad I don't pay interest; I hate interest, even though it...

    Model y serviceability by owner?

As @Rand posted, it is wise to check your insurance. Regarding servicing, the cars don't need much. Brakes last a long time due to Regen braking. There have been parts problems in accidents, so that could be an issue. Perhaps Youtube Tesla repairs? My guess is, if you can charge at home, you...

Federal EV tax credit set to end completely September 30th

Look at Tesla; the Fremont plant is the #1 plant in the US by vehicle deliveries. 25K workers with good paying jobs, paying taxes. Far more in supporting roles... An American success story! I support that. GM failed. NUMMI (GM Toyota) failed. Would it have happened with out the subsidies?

Federal EV tax credit set to end completely September 30th

That's the purpose of subsidies; to benefit. Some have better results than others. I guess it just depends on which end of the deal you are on. Full disclosure, I got a tax credit for out 2018 Model 3 but not on the new one. The tax credit played a role in the decision to buy. The car was the...

Federal EV tax credit set to end completely September 30th

That is not correct. Subsidies are generally legal, but that does not mean there is a specific law enabling a given subsidy. Subsidies generally involve a complex network of laws and regulations at various levels of government. They are a common tool used by governments to influence economic...

Lucid Air Sets New Record 747 Miles on a Single Charge

They are all over the plcae here. I think they are pretty bad looking, except for the black ones... Here's one of the 1st ones I saw a few years ago, on the way home from Costco on an early Sunday morning. We live at the foot of the Santa Cruz Mountains.

    How to tax EVs

Weight is a given, as you say. Why value? I am not sure how that helps getting to a fair road use number. I am guessing most EVs, being modern, could post annual mileage via cell phone app or on board electronics. In CA, we have BI-annual ICE smog checks that capture mileage; EV owners can cough...

Latest budget makes interest on American made cars fully deductible.

Well, Toyota is in the business of making money. They will sell what the market will bear. They could easily sell a strippie PU, but why should they?

    How to tax EVs

IMO, that seems very general; a yearly tax based on what? Gas is charged by consumption. While many would cite privacy, our M3P is very connected; one would have to believe mileage could be easily reported. Add to that vehicle weight... I agree administration overhead is costly, but a software...

    Recommend an ATF Extraction Pump

I used it to fill the 2.2 qts of ATF into the 2011 Camry the other day. The nozzle for the fill hole nicely, but I held it anyways. Dunked the black tube into the 5 qt jug and let her rip. Easy peasy.
