Explain this? Vehicle travels faster than the wind. My head hurts trying to figure this out.

If this works, if you were to give it a push in no wind conditions, would it go on forever? why-why not?

Explain this? Vehicle travels faster than the wind. My head hurts trying to figure this out.

I like trying to understand things like this but my brain has met it's match. Can anyone explain this? There are many videos on this "blackbird" vehicle traveling fast than the wind. Here is one video but it's long.

    Overfilled engine? Fun video here.

A new video showing an engine overfilled with oil.

    Post your latest oil change

2016 Hyundai Elantra GT, 140,000 miles. About 6,100 on the oil n filter. Gathered up some old bottles I'm trying to get rid of and made a mix of what I calculated to be 8W-38. Hyundai filter installed as well. The oil that came out looked very good, I think I'm changing oil too often. Here's...

Real life experience with the oil life monitor system.

I had a 2006 Chevy with an OLM. It doesn't have a clock so it has no way of knowing if a year has gone by. When the car was at a dealer, the OLM was re-flashed to never exceed 7,500 miles. It might be at %60 remaining at 6,000 miles but it will count down quickly to zero by 7,500 miles. I like...

Can you drive it like that? I say take it to a shop.

Accent GDI intake ports and valves at 230k

Or, maybe the problems with GDI deposits are exaggerated? I'm on my second car with GDI. Never do anything to prevent deposits and they run fine. Nice to see the photos.

Dimpled Pistons? Available today for some engines.

I found this interesting. Perhaps there is much room for improvement for the ICE.

Hyundai/Kia OEM Filter (26300-35505) No Longer Made By Mann? Quality?

I just bought one last week. Looks more like Spedestrian's. No sticker on top, a date code starting with 23, clear printing on can and it mentions Mann Hummel. Weighs 332 grams.

Another article about vehicles sending data to their insurance company via Lexus Nexus

The future....all your driving monitored. Insurance will use this as an excuse to set your premium [always higher]. Traffic infractions will automatically be removed from your bank account. Older cars without a connection will be deemed a safety hazard and financially punished out of existence.

Sprocket sizing effect on chain wear

I was taught that the small the sprocket, more each link pin rotates when going around a sprocket thus increasing wear.

    Commercial Pilots and Alcohol limits.

I worked for an airline in the 80's, we had a contract to turn around some British Airways flights. Charter Division. Upon shutting down the aircraft, the crew would often have a drink so that they could not be called to fill in for someone leaving on the next flight who might be sick. Drug...

Why would a freezer evaporator ice over?

Often the electric outlet is hidden behind the appliance. Turning the refrigerator thermostat to off does not remove all electric power. Be careful when working in there.

Why would a freezer evaporator ice over?

My 22 year old fridge gave me this problem. It had a timer that would turn on a electric heater under the evaporator coil. The heat would melt the ice and it would drain to a pan under the unit. In my case the heater also had a thermostat that would shut of the heater should get to hot. The...

Are my alternator slip rings too worn?

Depending on the vehicle the voltage regulation might be performed by the ECU. That is why there are so many wires going to that plug. Looks like there are four wires. The regulator in the alternator is a backup and is only used when communication with the ECU is lost. I'm only saying this...

Are my alternator slip rings too worn?

I've seen videos where people just clean them up and continue to use them. To me, it looks excessively worn, but I've been wrong before. One trick is to reverse the wires going to the stator so the current flows in the opposite direction by way of the brushes. Makes no difference to the...

Under valve cover pics 09 Flex 146k

Hard to tell with those photos. Can't see down past the camshaft to the surface of the head. Top photo, upper left, the cam shaft looks a little gritty. I would shift the oci or the oil type towards a little more cleaning.

    ball joint boot kit

I've owned 4 older Dodge vans that had non greaseable ball joints. They all failed around 190,000 miles. Very impressive. Upon replacing them I found the original boots were fused or glued to the top of the control arm making an excellent weather seal. Perhaps this contributed to the longevity...

Picture of KIA 1.6 Smartstream cylinder

I own two Hyundais and have been following their history engine failures for years. I've seen many pictures of worn pistons skirts posted on the internet [and we all know the internet does not lie]. The pistons are too short and the coating on the side of the piston skirt wears quickly. As the...
