    Rusty Mercedes SUV

We are hundreds miles away from the nearest seawater. Manitoba has 100,000 lakes, all freshwater. But it's possible (even likely) the vehicle spent some time in a saltier environment.

The hood was also very bad. Check out the rocker panels and lower doors.

    Rusty Mercedes SUV

I'd forgotten about the Sprinter vans - it was scary how much surface rust they developed here.

    Rusty Mercedes SUV

I think of German cars in general as being quite rust-resistant, and was surprised to see this poor thing in traffic today. The front looked just as bad. I'd bet it spent its first few years in the rust belt somewhere

    2009 Kia Sedona - Front Wheel-bearing Replacement

I ordered parts from Rock Auto Thursday, May 8th. I paid extra to have them delivered today by UPS (Tuesday, May 13th) rather than tomorrow (Wednesday, May 14th) by FedEx. The parts were not delivered today. RA considers them shipped, and has billed my CC. Per the tracking number, UPS says...

Think of this fellow as Bob Wilson, great-grandson of Gus, keeping the Model Garage in the family.

Cooked wall switch... Scary. Please come in...

Good thought about a possible excessive load elsewhere on that circuit. You would expect the breaker to trip if the circuit was consistently overloaded, but some brands of breaker seem to tolerate excessive current without tripping. The switch should have been rated for at least as much...

Cooked wall switch... Scary. Please come in...

That looks like there were three wires running to the switch - are they RD, BK, and WH? If so, that's a 3-way switch. I would expect a 4th wire, a bare copper ground, running to the switch's chassis.

More problems with Bosch spark plugs

@Chris142, where were the Bosch plugs made?

Are license plates referred to as "tags" in some parts of the United States?

I remember those - they were used before I was driving. The stickers that replaced them have been around since at least the mid-'70s.

    The Speed Of Light ??

The speed of light (C) is at its theoretical maximum in a vacuum - 186,000 miles/s or 3 x 10^8 m/s. It will be slower in different media, but never faster. In optical glass (i.e. in fibre optic cables), the speed of light is "only" about 2/3 its speed in a vacuum. Optical glass's index of...

Lol...house for sale where I got knocked out in '82

Exhaustive research reveals that comparable houses in the area typically sell for $495K. This house is more expensive due to its historical value; not evident in the photos is the bronze plaque detailing @Toy4x4's youthful stunts.

    2009 Kia Sedona - Front Wheel-bearing Replacement

Here's the weird thing - I have Princess Auto (sort of a Canadian equivalent to HF, but more eclectic with weird surplus stuff) press, but was afraid of breaking the irregularly shaped and rare knuckle. (Rock Auto lists a variety of hub-and-knuckle assemblies for may vehicles, but not the...

    2009 Kia Sedona - Front Wheel-bearing Replacement

If you're really bored, you can look up the predecessor to this thread, posted by me May 2, 2018. (Where do the years go?) Before removing the front driver's-side wheel to address a slow leak, I found there was quite a bit of play in the wheel. I confirmed it was not the ball joint or tie-rod...
