Aging, loss of strength, and large bikes (like a Harley)

Fair enough, I misread a bit of what was being said. Yes, short-term if a back is shot there is no core strength.

Aging, loss of strength, and large bikes (like a Harley)

Lol, I don't see strong as an ox and those other things coexisting at the same time.

Aging, loss of strength, and large bikes (like a Harley)

Yes at the end of the day the bike has to get upright and vertical. In the instances above, one was grabbing the front brake, one pushing uphill in the rain with poor tread on their shoes, one forgetting a kickstand, etc. Good reminders, all of those, to keep a good focus on the situation at hand.

Aging, loss of strength, and large bikes (like a Harley)

Moving the bike uphill, in the rain, shoes with no tread. How about going too fast on the highway with no tread in your tires in the rain and the car hydroplanes into the median. Choices made to move the bike in the rain. Was it life or death? Take that with a grain of salt and a wink in the...

    Cranking RPM of CBR300

Older bikes can develop that resistance, with my bikes even though they're older, living in Colorado we don't deal with the same humidity and subsequent corrosion over the long haul as more humid locations. My experience at high elevation and dry climate says when there's a problem, it's the...

    Cranking RPM of CBR300

Good work. With that said, I've never known a starter motor to fail on a motorcycle, that I've read here or numerous other forums.

AMSOIL Metric Motorcycle OR Dirt Bike??

Seems to me Honda is 9.22, that is lower than 9.3. It is too thin even though by a Razor's Edge according to this specs you shared.

Modern Automatics, Low RPM, and Engine Longevity

Back in the mid'80s, I had a 1983 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe, 5-speed. Spent summer job money one year during college on an intercooler and manual wastegate boost control. That car would absolutely rip with premium gas and having adjusted the initial timing to an additional 10° of advance...

Post Your Latest (Motorcycle) Oil Change!

Curious on the above post, why the different brands of 10w40 oils for similar oil change intervals between the two bikes? One is a conventional oil and one is a synthetic oil. Unless I read it wrong. If the bikes called for different weights of oil I could see going with different brands and...

    Cranking RPM of CBR300

You weren't expecting it to be that high, what was your expectation? Did it sound lazy compared to previous starts, that weren't at 5° c? Seems like it was somewhat cold outside... The colder the slower it's going to crank for a number of reasons. No mention of oil weight, I gather it was the...

    Amsoil metric oil

The bike is a (Yamaha) Star Roadliner 1800. That is about as far from high strung as you can get. It makes some good torque but the red line is like just above 5,000 RPM. Looks like the oil change interval recommendation is 4000 mi. A respected conventional oil will do just as well as the...

    Use 0W-30 instead of 10W-30.

Most of the bikes that come to America are vetted in a sense to pass European standards, as there are more bikes sold in Europe of the same models that make it to the United states. Manufacturers not going to do two different things in the tight Market that motorcycles are fighting for a market...

    Use 0W-30 instead of 10W-30.

BLS, the M1 0w30 analysis was from 2012, Amsoil 10w30 from 2013. 13 years ago and 12 years ago respectively. Has the formulation changed at all for both oils you are showing?? Is that total of 700 Mi on the sample track use or mostly track use? For 641 Mi and 700 Mi on the samples, aluminum and...

    JASO Wet Clutch Additive?

From a flashpoint perspective, that may be the case. From a functional perspective they are stout oils that hold grade well.

    Use 0W-30 instead of 10W-30.

Would you post the analysis of 0w30 in your rare homologated RC 45? Along with previous analysis showing that there was no increase in wear? You ought to have that information at your fingertips. Dang, you still quote everyone else but conveniently or deliberately don't post your own results.

    JASO Wet Clutch Additive?

I'm trying to understand your conundrum. You want to add something to the oil to offset the fact that it's a 10w40 car oil? To my knowledge there are no 10w40 car oils that specifically use friction modifiers. That's reserved for the lighter weights. As well I'm not sure what you mean by there...

    Valvoline R&P 5W-30 - 3.6k mi; 2019 Kia Sorento V6 - 91k mi

Running this oil, the analysis is secondary in my opinion, to oil consumption. I'm not going to worry about the analysis on a J37 Acura with known loose oil rings from the factory that promote carbon buildup that has 215,000 miles in my case. If the oil consumption goes down it's a win...
