Distilled water for mixing engine coolant?

Thank you! Do you know of any documents or studies that investigate these effects?

Is there an additive for oil that can help with water?

I don't really think that'll be an issue but I would do a second oil change after a good hour run or so.

    Valvoline R&P 0w-20 7,000mi OCI 2022 Toyota Camry 2.5L 109,000 Miles

Per the comments in the report? "The drain interval can be extended, so resample at next oil change (9,000 to 10,000 miles)..."

He also recommends that you not have clean fluid in your transmission because it's too slippery and you need the dirt / grit to help the clutches work. Unsubscribed when I heard that.

While the maximum viscosity of 0w oils are limited at -35C (cranking) and -40C (pumping) you would need to compare the actual measured results of the products. I wouldn't be surprised is there was a correlation between the HTHS and CCS results, ie, the lower the viscosity the better the CCS result.

Distilled water for mixing engine coolant?

I'm curious what the "ideal" water would be for coolant mixing. PH, TDS, GH? Is RO water with a TDS of 50 as good a de-ionized? Does it really matter?

    Will seafoam save me?

Gasoline cleans much better than diesel. I'd probably just clean the pan and run some short OCI and see how it cleans up.

Distilled water for mixing engine coolant?

I've always used purified drinking water. My current setup produces water with a TDS of ~50.

0w20 will definitely not cause damage to anything in a 0w8 or 16 application except affect your fuel economy and maybe your cold-start performance. Thanks for the info and the test results! Are you going to try testing the same oil to 9-10k as noted?

Supertech 0w-40 5qt exists? But isn't for sale or at least yet?

Wow, you have FOUR different Super Tech (aka SuperTech) options! We only have two in Ontario that I know of, Full Synthetic and High Milage Full Synthetic.

    Atf color.

Did you inspect / clean the magnets while you were in there? Do you have an ATF temperature monitor? Colour is definitely not the most important quality of the fluid but metal / contamination should be kept in check. Try to get a magnetic drain plug as it will give you an indicator of how...

Keeping my old honda civic and want to try Valvoline R/P

If you don't plan to do much driving in it then the mfg OCI would probably be annually but that should be calculated by the Oil Change Minder I would think. The OM manual I found online states: "Replace oil 1 x per year if oil life has not expired after 12 months"

    Iridium vs Ruthenium spark plugs

It's a bit more than longevity, the sharper edges / corners provided by the precious metals reduces the voltage required to fire an arc. This can help with weak ignition, large gaps, poor conditions. It's a significant, if small, boost to the ignition system. For me it's worth the extra $3 a...

    High RPM to Remove Carbon

You can fix the growl / burble of the Subie flat-fours with a properly designed exhaust manifold. Then it'll sound like a proper, even-fire, four cylinder. ;)

2017 c220d ... Thicker transmission fluid to help with gearbox issue?

First, I would want to be sure that the ECUs are up to date as problems in the code can lead to damage and wear. Second, I would check the transmission pan, filter(s), and most importantly the magnets. In any gearbox / transmission the magnets are of critical importance to minimizing wear and...
