I use Liquid IV. I usually use half a pack per 16 oz bottle of water. On really hot days, when I'm going mountain biking, I'll drink a half a bottle of orange Gatorade before the ride and the rest after. Seems to help keep my legs from cramping up.

I have a whole separate tool box for bike tools. In fact, I even have an open top style box just for wheel building.

My wife has a similar bike and she asked me the same thing. It's some Chinese made frame. I told her if it were something vintage, special or even the slightest bit cool, I'd have brake tabs welded on and lace in disc hubs but in this case, it's better to just get a new bike.
