how do you figure out what grease is in something?

If you grease enough its not really a problem. Just make sure to use a chassis grease on the chassis, and a bearing grease on bearings... etc Only way I deviate is using wlg in boat trailers... but there are enough lithium compounds where you can find a good compromise

    engine damage?

I know this is apples to oranges , there was a YouTube video about a ford aspire where the owner threw a brickon the aaccelerator and let it go. 25 minutes later the radiator blew. 30 minutes later it locked up. 55 minutes later it restarted... Engines are tougher than you'd think

    HF $2.99 knife sharpener

I've had great luck with the bottom of a coffee mug. The ceramic is fine and so t remove too much but its not teadious. Learned that way back in scouts. You can feel the blade angle , and if you can't, you choose one you like to hold and run with it Way cheaper than stones. Way more common too...

Ford Triton V-8 plug class action suit

A few years back autolite had an online course you could take where they had an engineer explain why the problem existed, and a 99.999 effective way to pull plugs. The problem is that it takes time... like overnight so techs are hesitant to do it and owners flip out over not having their truck...

Fully or Semi Synthetic Engine Oil

Euro cars have always liked a thicker oil. They run well on a hdeo as well. Look in the manual, the spec'd range of acceptable will be huge. 200 k isn't that much, but I would stay with a 5w40 if it were me

I almost CAN'T go away from a TOYOTA selection

The ford fusion and later chev Malibu might be worth looking into. I work in fleet maint and our 2010 fusions have started to tick over the 180k mark so they are looking to replace. 1 tune up, several sets of brakes/tires, and trans/oil changes. Not too bad They will sell them to me for...

backup - another 380? or a diff cal?

And to really throw you for a loop I'd recommend a ruger lcr. .38spc does the job and I know if I had to fall back to a backup I'd be shaken up, so something with an easy manual of arms and unshakable reliability would be nice. OTOH there's having the same manual of arms with the g42/43 has its...

    Oil Analysis results

That puff after idling leads me to valve stem seals. But only after a half hour seems minor. The other thing is it could be a stuck pcv valve. That would cause oil to pool in the intake manifold and be consumed under acceleration Try a high milage oil if available and see if it helps. How...
