Why do some cars just "eat" tires?

I remember taking a 2007 Alpina B7 to Motorsport Ranch for an HPDE. That car was big and heavy but it was also fast. After two instructor sessions the Michelin man on the front sidewalls had a flat top- and that was with the front tires inflated to near their maximum pressure.

Why do some cars just "eat" tires?

In wet weather I don’t drive my car like I stole it, but I do drive it like I didn’t have permission to borrow it. 😎

Why do some cars just "eat" tires?

We bought an off-lease X3 in 2005; it needed rear brakes shortly afterwards. When it needed rear brakes again the pads had lasted over twice a long. I asked my service advisor if BMW had changed pad compound and he told me no- but that I would not believe how many drivers treat the brake pedal...

I'm lucky to get @24,000 miles out of the max performance summer Contis on my C43. Pay to play...

Chaparral and Lola at Laguna Seca

I was mostly into HO slot cars but I did have a 1:24 Cox GT40. And I'm still thinking about building a Careers or Scalextric 1:32 track in the basement.

Chaparral and Lola at Laguna Seca

I loved the Can-Am racers of that era. I remember my execrable local newspaper listed race results under the municipal T-Ball scores. At least today you can watch almost any type of racing you want live.

Would I be a fool to test drive this 2013 BMW?

Please remember that since you actually own BMW vehicles your opinion is invalid on BITOG. The only true experts are the people who have never driven or sat in the brand being discussed- particularly if their opinion is based on fifth-hand hearsay.

Would I be a fool to test drive this 2013 BMW?

Tell me about it- I've owned 12 BMWs, a Volvo 740 Turbo, a Ford Scorpio, and a Mercedes AMG C43. I'm on my third Chapter 7 and I have 4 credit cards pegged at their credit limits. And did I mention that I'm living in a cardboard box under an interstate overpass?

    Increase in pad slaps

Once again I'm reminded of what I once heard a European automotive engineer say: "The difference between European drivers and American drivers is: European drivers don't care if the brakes squeal- just as long as they stop the car. American drivers don't care if the brakes stop the car- just as...

    Increase in pad slaps

If the rotors are within spec just changing pads isn't an issue. In my experience with BMW and M-B the rotors will usually last that long if the car isn't seeing the track.

    Anybody run the octane numbers?

Same here; I put Shell 93 in the GLC 300 loaner I had while the C43 was in for its Service A.

Ford is offering employee pricing to all U.S. customers on most 2024 and 2025 Ford and Lincoln vehicles

I prefer sedans and coupes as well. Unless it's something borderline mental like a GLC63 S E Performance I won't willingly pick a CUV over a sedan or coupe.

    Anybody run the octane numbers?

I just run Shell or Sunoco 93 in everything and leave it at that. The Club Sport did not require 91 or 93 originally, but the Turner/Conforti chip I installed does call for it.

    2019 RAM 1500 Sport update - 115,000km

I usually change the differential oil at around 30-50k miles, but I never touched the diffs on my 2004 E83 X3. Years ago I sold it to a friend and both diffs are still silent at north of 225k miles. Go figure.

My Jeep dealer is very good; it’s the nearby Ford dealerships that are execrable. If te reverse was true I would own a Bronco instead of my JLU.
