Replacement for Purolator Boss Oil Filters

So, some of the PG filters, such as the CarQuest variants, list 99% at 20 microns. From Premium Guards website: 99% at 25 microns.

Replacement for Purolator Boss Oil Filters

Premium Guard XL all the way. Any of the variants as well, like those mentioned above.

    Purolator BOSS PBL12222

99% at 46microns is pretty bad. Not sure what the point of a pretty filter is if it can’t, well, filter? Looks good though!

What was the first car you worked on regularly?

1981 (I think?) Chevy LUV pickup. Loved that thing. You know how when you turn the corner fast, and your body presses up against the door? The sound system would do the same. No kidding.....

    Hyundai replacement gas cap

Stant does still make them, or, old stock. Rock Auto: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=225672&cc=3443081&pt=5900&jsn=423

    Hyundai replacement gas cap

I had replaced the one in our 2012 Santa Fe, back in the day, with a Stant cap. Rockauto and Amazon have them. Pretty cheap. Seemed to work fine.

    Mavis tries to strike again

Yeah, the ones here in South Carolina are MAVIS now also. I went to our local NTB shop once. Was in a rush and fleet vehicle needed an oil change. They left the oil cap off. Discovered it when I got home as i got out of the car and saw it sitting in between the windshield wipers...

    Pentius PLB7317-12 PK

It looks like the media is a little different. The extended life says 99% at 20 microns. The standard filter doesn't publish a rating that I see (I may be wrong, but I don't see one.) Having used the Extended life, and cut open the filter here on BITOG, the media does appear to be different...

    Pentius PLB7317-12 PK

From what I have seen, it looks like the 7317 and the 6607 are the same thing, expect the 7317 is a little longer. Same bypass set point. In fact, I think a lot of the cheapy quick lube places only carry the 6607, so likely a lot of vehicles that spec the 7317 are running around with a 6607...

    Mavis tries to strike again

My local Mavis is a couple of years old and they're pretty good. The lady that runs the store is tough tough tough. She runs a tight ship. They have never tried to upsell me. She knows by name when I go in there. I don't go much anymore (I had to go a lot for our fleet vehicle) unless it is...

    No......... :(

    Not another Valvoline R&P thread

Nope. Rings get gummed up, as others posted above. Changing oil.early can help, but still just a bad design.

My Mazda dealership only carrier the MV line of filters. They would have to order any of the others.

Reviewing a thread on BITOG called “What are you doing right now.”

    Not another Valvoline R&P thread

The issues with these engines has nothing to do with the oil, it’s the design. With my personal history of maintaining several Kia and Hyundai vehicles, you should follow the severe mileage schedule and make sure oil level stays topped off. Use a 5W-30. Doesn’t matter what brand. Dollar tree...
