Why isn't High Mileage oil the "standard" oil?

I have posted this before, but my work vehicles (Fleet) always got Valvoline Max-Life synthetic blend High Mileage oil every 5K. From brand new, up to 100K when we would get a different vehicle. Only car that ever blew the engine was the Ford Fusion, but it had nothing to do with the oil used...

Valvoline oils: which do you like or prefer?

4,000 miles currently. My son is pretty good about coming to me when the dashboard starts yelling at him when it's time. I think he put about 4,300 miles on it last time. He's not real into car maintenance or anything mechanical. He's a computer guy. 21 years old. He did do the rear brakes...

    Forum clean language rules

Also, one time I was talking about a centrifugal pump at work (Navy days) and we called the electrical junction box something that got filtered out. Those who know, know. I don't find the rules at this forum difficult or constraining to be honest. Doesn't mean I haven't gotten an IM from a...

    ST6607 2700 miles

I thought Nissans used the ST9688 filter? I have done a couple oil chnages last few years in Nissans and that is what they used (Frontier trucks though, so different engine I'm sure.) I have one of these in my Stash for the Mazda's, but the ST catalog says it doesn't fit. I do believe that's...

    C&P - Purolator Tech TL20195 3k miles w/ HPL EC

Nice. Only change I would have made would be sticking with the 5W-30. Is there a reason you went to a 0W-20?

    Napa dumping Wix as supplier?

Well, when MH bought Wix, then cheapened them, they could only ride on brand recognition for so long.......now is that time. Us here at BITOG have known it for a while, but the rest of the world catches up eventually.

What’s going on with Quaker State Ultimate Protection?

Using it in my Mazda's. Wifes CX-5 is going to get it this weekend. I had previously done an OCI in her car with the Ultimate Protection, but put Pennzoil in it when they had the Promo (basically got a 5qt jug free.) LIkely stick with it as its a good oil at a good price. Someone earlier in...

Valvoline oils: which do you like or prefer?

Great point. Hard to accept that 3/4 quart in 4,000 miles is okay, but I guess it is these days.

Valvoline oils: which do you like or prefer?

I'm glad it's working for some of you. On my 3rd run of R&P in my sons Santa Fe. Zero change so far. Still goes through 1/2-3/4 quart per OCI. Which isn't too bad, but R&P hasn't seemed to touch it. Maybe 4th oil change will be the charm.

    Check your laundry washer hoses.

I sent back the cheapo chinesium ones I got on Amazon. Went to Home Depot and got some EVERBILT hoses. Stout and seem to have some nice build quality. Actually recommended by This Old House (TV Show.) Seem miles better than what I got on Amazon. Installed and been running them a few days...

Tree Trim - looking for opinions

So, I'm wrong. It DOES extend over the road. Not sure what I can do about that unless I call in a professional.

Tree Trim - looking for opinions

They are not hanging over street. We trim things up a couple times a year. It is CLOSE to the street though. The company our HOA hired is called First Service Residential. I think they are pretty common in the Carolinas. I think I will start with the two that are the most horizontal.

Tree Trim - looking for opinions

This is my front yard. I mow it myself. The HOA does take care of common areas in the neighborhood, like the dog parks, plus the clubhouse, pool areas, etc. We also have a "section" of our neighborhood that is 55 or older and they have an option of having their grass cut fro them (at a fee)...

Tree Trim - looking for opinions

I may try that. Good suggestion. I figure if they don't like it, I can do more. It's all justifying their jobs. Its a management company that handles all this stuff for the HOA. Waste.....
