    300v bike/car

The only thing about 300V for bikes, is that it has no API certification. It appears to be intended for racing - severe duty for short duration ( a day or a weekend) and then dumped. I recently asked about this in an e-mail to a Motul rep and he pretty much confirmed, saying that for street use...

Nice UOA ! Big air-cooled long stroke engine with a shared sump, and the viscosity is still in the 40wt range after nearly 3600 miles - amazing.

When to Switch to Synthetic on New Suzuki?

And let us not forget some of the excellent choices we have here from Petro Canada, with their Duron E series oils.

whats your total two wheeled miles ?

Somewhere around 300K miles. Virtually all of that done on my first 9 bikes between 1970 and 1985. Then no riding from 1985 through to 2011. This year is my first year of riding in 25 years, with bike #10. I've done 7500 miles this year. A lot more aches and pains than I remember. Even the odd...

    Rotella T 15W40, Kawasaki Vulcan (Mean Streak)1500

Steve, The oil from the first 2 samples had a fairly high baseline Silicon probably due to antifoam. The SRT VOA showed only 5 ppm, so that accounts for some of the drop in Si this time around. These are pretty short runs so I realize it's hard to establish a real trend. Fe/Cu/Pb all seem to...

Shell Rotella T 15W40 (from Canada)

Anything from a 10W40 to a 20W50. Actually, it even says that 10W30 is OK for really cold temps.

    Rotella T 15W40, Kawasaki Vulcan (Mean Streak)1500

I'll be changing oil at around 1500 miles until I can get the fuel dilution down. First 2 UOA( NOT Rotella T) were with stock air intake and stock fuel map. Rotella T UOA was with opened-up air intake and Power Commander III with a rich map. So some of the increase in fuel dilution could be...

Shell Rotella T 15W40 (from Canada)

TBN not done on this VOA due to the high cost of TBN analysis with Fluid Life. Shell PDS says TBN = 10.1 (which is more than I'll ever need in this application). This analysis done in conjunction with my first UOA on this oil in my 2003 Kawasaki Mean Streak (Vulcan) 1500. Code: Shell...

    '03 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 - Motomaster 10W40 - 2Kmi

BTW, the 1500 motor in the Kawasaki Meanstreak differs slightly from the 1500 installed in all the rest of the Vulcan series (ie Nomad, Classic, etc) : 1)Larger throttle bores 2)Larger intake valves 3)Different cam grind/valve timing 4)Different fuel mapping (this is a FI engine) 5)Different...

    '03 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 - Motomaster 10W40 - 2Kmi

Analysis #2 on this oil. Oil sampled hot. Fuel still seems high although this may be normal for this engine. Shearing and fuel munched this oil down to a 5W30 in just 2K miles. Oil dumped and replaced with Shell Rotella T 15W40. Code: 2003 Kawasaki Meanstreak 1500 (1500 V Twin) 27,800 km on...

ROTELLA T6 Research! Please advise? Thanks

In S.A., you may have access to Shell Advance 4T motorcycle oil - a product that is NOT available in north america. Apparently it's good stuff and recommended by Ducati. If you can't resolve the Rotella T6 equivalency question, consider the Shell motorcycle oil (it you have it available)

    Motomaster Formula1 10W40 Premium MC oil - 1K mile

No other UOAs on this motor. This is the first so I don't know what normal is for the thing. There is one UOA for another vulcan 1500 on here from last year from user Bluemeanie. There don't seem to many others for the Kawi Vulcan 1500. I'll resample at 2K. Depending on what I see, I'll switch...

    Motomaster Formula1 10W40 Premium MC oil - 1K mile

A spot check on this inexpensive MC oil at 1000 miles (1600 km) on the oil. VOA included. TBN not done due to the high cost of TBN analysis with Fluid Life. I don't care about the TBN number for the most part since the oil will get changed due to loss of viscosity or higher levels of wear...
