    Used tire warranty

I went to get my car inspected today and saw this sign. I'm sure it's an old one but I had to smile after reading it.

What would keep a new head gasket from sealing?

What did you use on the head bolts in the coolant jacket? I just did a head gasket job a couple of months ago and had excellent results with this product: Loctite head bolt and water jacket sealant. https://www.amazon.com/Loctite-1158514-Jacket-Sealant-50-milliliter/dp/B004QXL4F2

Discount Tire guarantee, they really honor it

I've used DT for 25+ years and have always been happy except for this last time. Don't make the mistake of ordering tires weeks in advance. That's what did. It was for my son's car and his first set of tires. When we got home ( 3 miles later) I inspected the tires. They were scuffed and most...

    Castro Edge 0w/40 2013 BMW N52

If it were mine, I would stick with your once a year regiment. Cheap insurance and it gives you an opportunity to look for any leaks developing while you are under the car. I see what Blackstone is saying about oil is just sitting in the oil pan. My belief is it makes a difference if your car...

Weed whacker rough running / stalling problem

I'm not saying this is your issue but it never hurts to check the flame suppressor screen. I had one that was running rough and tried all the obvious stuff to fix it. Finally figured out the screen was so clogged it caused it to run rough. It doesn't hurt to check it/clean it...

Changed the spark plugs on Subaru BRZ with pics

I'd have to say, the old ones held up very nicely.

    Rear upper control arms

I've given up on Mevotech products. Goodyear refused to do an alignment on my vehicle as there was too much play in the ball joints. They were Mevotechs with 50k on them. I took the car home and jacked it up to verify. Sure enough, there was all kind of play in these worn out Mevotechs.

    Chevrolet Silverado Transmission Failure

The 4L60 in my 04 Trailblazer has 202k on it and going strong. Maybe I'm just lucky but a DeX VI change every 30-40k probably didn't hurt. If I could get 200k plus out of every transmission I've owned, I'd be good with that.

Are you willing to jump start a stranger's vehicle?

Back in the 80's I would take turns with my buddies cruising the town on Friday or Saturday nights. Whoever wasn't driving, we would park in front of the bank. We wrap up around 11pm or so one night and I go to start my car. KA-BOOM! It was loud. (Battery blew) No doubt it set an alarm off...

    Powerstop Brake kits

I put the Z23 Evolution front rotors/pads on my '15 Cadillac about 1 1/2 years ago. No regrets. All positive things to say about the package.

    Bilstein shocks

Bilsteins have been good for me. In 11-09 at 41k, I replaced the factory struts and shocks with Bilsteins on my 2004 Trailblazer. Today at 194k, they are still riding well.

Johnson boat engine, still has a problem?

I agree with Sweezy. There are a lot of easy things to check first. I have a 1985 70hp. If it were me, I would buy a fuel pump kit. They are under $25. Your diaphragm may be failing.

4L60E fluid change and upgrade (June 2019)

I've been doing 30-50k pan drop and filter changes for years on my 2004 4L60E. I'm currently at 190k with zero issues. Probably over-kill I know but that's just me. I've only used DEX-VI, either Valvoline full synthetic or Supertech. Regardless, I would use any licensed DEX-VI product with full...

    Galloway Precision Triggers

Blue oval - I see no replies so I'll throw my opinion out there. A couple of years ago I ordered a trigger kit from Galloway. I had major problems with it and they were nice enough to say "send it back and we will re-machine it". It came back and it was better but not near good enough for a...

Tie Rod and Ball Jt. Recommendations/Advice

I've given up on Mevotech. Fifty thousand miles later Goodyear would not do an alignment due to a bad inner tie rod and a lower ball joint, (opposite sides). Both were Mevotechs. I took the truck home, put the front on stands and yes, there was obvious movement.

good brand of inner tie rod?

I can tell you what not to buy. Mevotech. I put these inner tie rods on my Trailblazer. Fifty thousand miles later , Goodyear refused to do an alignment due to tire movement from a worn inner tie rod. I replaced them with A/C Delco.

    Chev Trailblazer thermostat replacement

The '04 I-6 Trailblazer I have is driven by my youngest son. I did a thermostat replacement with a Gates brand back in July '09....almost 150,000 miles ago. It's still running great. I had the known issue with this truck running a little hot in the summer with A/C on in traffic. The...

    handgun safe

I second the recommendation of the Fort Knox pistol safe. I really like mine. Solid, secure, and ease of entry without worrying about batteries.

    Your first car

'73 Monte Carlo with the seemingly bullet-proof 350 engine. Great car, but I don't miss having to file the points on a regular basis to keep the performance in top shape. (The driver's seat swiveled counter-clockwise towards the door, which eventually got banned years later.)
