    Break-in oil change debate

I always do a "break in" oil change on a new car. There is no telling how long the car sat on a lot, etc. So I always have done it and I always will do it. Oh and I can care less if I'm "flushing" money down a toilet.

    Sumitomo Tires? Encounter AT

And the Falken Wildpeak tires are one of the most popular AT tires, but that doesn't mean they are good.

    Sumitomo Tires? Encounter AT

I agree with you wholeheartedly, but is Sumitomo a "cheap" tire? I know nothing about the brand.

    Sumitomo Tires? Encounter AT

Hi everyone, As the title indicates, does anyone have experience with Sumitomo tires? I have been looking for tires on Tire Rack and the Encounter AT tire ssemingly has good reviews. I have zero knowledge of this brand and their reputation. Some general Google searches seem to say that they are...

    Vredestein tires?

As noted above they are no longer a Dutch company, rather they are owned by Apollo an Indian company. What does that mean in terms of quality? I have no idea. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_Vredestein I was (possibly still am) interested in their Pinza AT tires. I called the US number...

Fram Ultra XG3682 in use for 6 years

Given the fact that you noted that the Nissan Hardbody serves as a plow truck, I almost afraid to ask; how rusty is the truck/frame? The D21/WD21 Hardbody and Pathfinders rusted even if a bag of rock salt was within a ten mile radius and the truck never touched salt! The frames rotted out...

How do they account for the age of the tire carcass? It could be twenty years old.

    "Remolded" Tires from Treadwright........yikes!

Not enough to make it worth it in my opinion.

    "Remolded" Tires from Treadwright........yikes!

Hi everyone, I was recently on a pick up truck page and someone noted that they recently purchased new tires for their truck at a great price. They further went on to say that they were an exact copy of the BFG KO's. I was intrigued to do a bit more research about these Treadwright Tires. After...

Exactly what I was going to say! I just cut out the middle man and buy the Sunsong from the start.

What's good, and not so good, in brake pads these days?

I just used Bosch QuietCast pads and rotors on my Avalon. The fit great and stop even better. In the past I have tried the Element 3 pads and I found that they didn't fit great (on my Xterra anyway).

Free lifetime oil change. FCP Euro.

With FCP doing only store credit now, it's basically every other oil change for free. You need to purchase new oil/filter then return the used oil/filter for credit. The next oil change will basically be free, but remember they give store credit on the original purchase price, not the current...

If you have the Michelin Cross Climate 2's, they almost NEED rotation.

Costco tire rotation appts. / very unusual

I have been shopping at Costco for well over twenty years and I have never bought tires anywhere else but Costco in the last twenty plus years (except two cheap tires I purchased from Amazon as a quick stop gap measure). I buy my tires there due to the a great selection of only top brand tires...

1997 Nissan Maxima - Correct coolant

Hi everyone, I recently purchased a very low mileage 1997 Maxima (65,000 miles) and I replaced the thermostat and radiator. I used a conventional green coolant and I have not had any issues.......but. I used the conventional green because that's what I used in my 1996 Maxima that I had for...

What oils did you use for carbeurated vehicles

20w50 in an air-cooled 1600? I seem to remember that some air-cooled experts claim that 20w50 is too heavy. I assume you have no issues?

Now I Really Know Why Rustproofing Is A Big Deal In The North East U.S.

The word "rust proofing" is rather vague. The most effective way to keep rust away is to utilize an oil spray applied annually.
