    Car manufacturer Approved Oil

Mercedes has strict oil standards. They also sell cars and tucks all over the world where those oils are unlikely to be available. And yet those vehicles go on and on. I'm supposed to use certain 0w40 oil in my 21 year old e320. Instead, I use the same 5w30 synthetic I put in the Fords and...

Why bother with a synthetic blend ?

Is it even possible to make a 5W20 that will meet current specs from purely conventional oil?

They are doing what they're told to do. What are you about?

Why bother with a synthetic blend ?

If I were paying to have my oil changed, I'd go with conventional every 5k. Premium oil change pricing is a rip off. But since I'm able to do it myself, and with the convergence of conventional/semi/full pricing at the retail level, there's no economic incentive to use anything other than full...

    Mixing Oil to top off?

I ran out of City Star to top off, so I put in a quart of Mobil 1. Do you guys think this will harm my Geo Metro's engine?

Mechanic used smittys super S multi flow

This used to be Menard's ultra bargain brand. It seems to have been replaced with the FVP brand. Probably OK, but I'd pass on them both if given the choice. That fine they got was only from 5 years ago, so not like it's some ancient history.

    Walmart Auto better than Firestone!

That looks like a first gen. Until last year I had a 2000 since new. Decent car, but the suspension was one of it's weaker points - both front and rear. On tires, I ran Douglas on mine for a lot of miles without any issue. Were getting pretty worn by about 35K, but that seemed OK for the price.

Discount Tire no longer patches plugged tires

Discount Tire has has this policy by me for several years. And by the way, I've been plugging tires for 45 years without a single failure.

What are your thoughts on White Castle?

Unique burgers. Had them for the first time in Chicago...probably about 1963. They are still the same. I don't think the frozen variety do them justice. I don't have them often, but a bag of White Castle cheeseburgers, some fries and an orange soda is good for the soul (if not your health) at times.

Restaurant chains you wish would come back

I was a big fan of Burger Chef when I was a kid. That was fine dining for me. I looked them up on Wiki, and they've been gone since 1996.

Post your Gas Mileage : Calculated

According to the computer in my 2006 Sienna, which I haven't reset since July of 2021, I'm getting 21.7 in very mixed driving. Pretty happy with that for a heavy, boxy vehicle.

    Look What I Found

The one on the left is clearly superior with it's "Trishield Technology".

    Castrol Magnatec initial impressions.

Sorry, my fault-edited it out. Yes, it seems oil marketing has jumped the shark in recent years. I've been stopping by this site for many years, so I have an idea about what's going on, but to the average consumer it must just be mystifying.

    Castrol Magnatec initial impressions.

I've been buying Magnatec at Walmart for a few years because when I go to the store I can be confident that I will find the weight I need from a major company for under $20. I take the buzz words and claims with a grain of salt for all of them. What I've wondered, as a consumer looking over the...

    Castrol Magnatec initial impressions.

If they re-brand Magnatec, I'm thinking it will stay in the same price slot. If not, QS will be fine, too.

    Castrol Magnatec initial impressions.

Magnatec has been my go to oil for awhile. Usually buy at Walmart, but happened to look it up on Amazon and found this in the product description... ATTENTION: Castrol GTX Magnatec will be transitioning to a brand NEW Castrol product, GTX Full Synthetic, on January 1st 2022. ...hopefully, the...
