What is a long trip really like in an EV?

If you get stranded on the side of the road, can AAA deliver a gallon of electricity?

    Driving off with the nozzle

Perhaps a Tesla might solve your problem:)

    Driving off with the nozzle

The key for me is trying to buy gas at the same stations where I know the service will be quick and hopefully, somewhat courteous. If you vary from the norm, it can be like that Forrest Gump box of chocolates.

    Driving off with the nozzle

As a NJ resident, it's not really possible to start pumping your own gas anymore. When paying with cash, the attendant has to insert their "key" card to activate the pump. Years ago, yes, you could start the process yourself but for either safety or security reasons, that isn't the case anymore...

    New Quaker State Ultimate Protection

I find it interesting that Pennzoil specifically does not recommend extending drain intervals in their "Know Your Oil" series of videos. And yet, here's Quaker State, their sister company, both owned by SOPUS, claiming their Ultimate Protection oil is good for 20,000 miles. 540Rat, who is a big...

Nearly 50% of men who have never flown or landed an airplane think they could safely land a passenger airplane

I can't even figure out how to turn the heat on in my wife's car. I'm thinking landing a passenger jet isn't going to end well with me at the controls.

Does this sound like a bad tire?

The shop that I use has seen counterfeit Michelin tires. The person's car experienced similar problems.

1979 Fiat Strada review from Bob Mayer, WTVJ Miami

I had a red 1969 Fiat 850 Spider, 4 on the floor, rear engine, 2 seat convertible. My folks bought it new and I got it as a hand me down in 1975 as my first car. It was fun to drive but it leaked rain water like a sieve to the point where I kept an old coffee can in the car at all times so I...

Have you owned a vehicle for 15 years without internal engine problems

My '08 Honda just turned 285,000 miles with no internal problems. Mostly Pennzoil and recently Castrol. We did have an '08 Saturn Outlook that had a connecting rod failure at 108,000 miles. That car was nothing but problems literally from the moment we bought it so we just dumped it on...

Reusable water bottles hold more bacteria than toilet seat, study finds

In regards to the environment only, is it better to use a re-usable bottle that you wash everyday with hot, soapy water or just recycle the plastic water bottles daily? I use a Contigo stainless steel re-usable bottle that I really like but I do wonder if I'm having a positive or negative effect...

Home A/C repair or replacement, I'm I getting ripped off?

Many years ago, one of the local TV News shows in NYC did an investigative report looking to catch dishonest appliance repairmen. In this particular segment, they took a central A/C unit and just disconnected a wire that shut the system down but would be very obvious to even the most basic...

    Cat thief run over, dies.

Typical female driver. Start engine, put it in drive and accelerate away all within 1 second. Any of us here on BITOG would probably let the oil circulate for at least a few seconds to properly lubricate the engine before dropping it in gear. If he's under our car, he probably has ample time to...

How come America is not nearly recognized in the same conversation as The Eagles?

I went to an America concert in the early 1980's at the PNC Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ. The whole concert lasted about 75 minutes and they were done. No encore, just done and gone. The entire audience was stunned and ticked off. Ever since, they've been dead to me. Any time I hear an America...

The E90 got broadsided by a deer tonight.

Sorry to hear that. I've had 3 deer impacts in my life resulting in 1 certain death, 1 probable and 1 hurt feelings. These were the deer BTW, not me. Just this morning at 4:30 am on my way to work I came up on 4 deer standing in the road staring at me, almost daring me to approach! I had to inch...

Are we allowed to talk about "The Balloon"

Would you feel the same way if your pervy neighbor had a drone hovering outside your windows at night watching your wife or daughter getting ready for bed? I think not! As far as I'm concerned, if someone launches a spy balloon that's going to float over the US, then they are the ones who have...

Andretti Global and GM partner for Formula 1 bid: Andretti Cadillac Racing

I would bet that a lot of that added length has to do with driver safety and increased crumple zones before and after the cockpit. We've all seen pictures where the front of these open wheel type machines gets ripped off and the driver's legs are hanging out with one foot front facing front and...

    “Entry level synthetic”

Shelf space. The more products, the more shelf space. The more shelf space, the more likely the consumer is to take notice of those bright yellow Pennzoil bottles (which is why they transitioned all their products into yellow bottles a couple of years ago and got away from Yellow, Bronze and...
