Help with a piston soak problem aka did I destroy my engine?

Thanks for sharing your experience and to those who replied to you. I have a 2017 Kia Sorento that started using 1.5 qts of oil every 1 k miles a year ago. or more. After 3 failed dealer piston soaks, I got a free new engine at 72,400. While this was going on I spent lots of time reading about...

Detergents, no solvents, every fill up

I am not positive, but ZERO problem until 1 month ago and then read about it online. ALSO..After I put in 2 bottles of Techron, it did make a difference for a couple weeks. And the way the fluctuation came back was typical.

Detergents, no solvents, every fill up

Thanks for the reply. Just tried that (2 bottles) and it had a temporary , partial improvement. The Bosch fuel pump was replaced 2 years ago. The original lasted 26 years 165k miles.

One of my thoughts is to get at the fuel pump , just to clean off the sensor with BRASSO or whatever, since it lasted 2 years with gas on it.

No access panel. My wife uses the van and I am thinking of blocking the 2 wires of sensor to shut the PING off. Will talk to a few mechanics too, to get their input.

2009 Buick LaCrosse - Fuel Level started reading funny. Any ideas?

I have a 1998 Dodge Caravan 2.4 L that has 172k miles. At about 167K (Aug 2022) I had the fuel filter replaced. The next morning there was gas under the vehicle, on the cement driveway. When I went back to the mechanic, he checked it out and found a fuel pump plastic fuel terminal cracked...

    Delphi fuel pump question

I had a 2nd fuel filter replaced on my 1998 Dodge Caravan at 163K The mechanic broke the fuel pump connector and it leaked gas on the driveway. He replaced the pump with a Bosch, I overpaid (duhh) for the pump and he did not charge labor. The gauge didn't read correctly. The mechanic put in...

Did a piston soak on the 18 Kia 2.4L this weekend

There are several piston soak write ups on this site. My KIA is on the 3rd dealer approach. You can see what they do by GOOGLE TSB 222 (technical service bulletin) They use Valvoline fluid. Most on YouTube that work use Berryman B-12. Type in piston soak, Berryman B-12. Some users have to...

Did a piston soak on the 18 Kia 2.4L this weekend

Latest. For some reason, the 15,000 dealers getting hacked or whatever. The 2nd piston soak FAIL did not get reported from KIA dealer to KIA techline in time. GRRRRR. They wanted me to do a 3rd piston soak and I picked it up about 10 days ago to drive the required 1k. miles. I talked to 5 KIA...

    Additive recommends for April 2024

As for my 26 yr old Dodge Caravan 2.4L with 170K miles. I put in Berrymans 2616 fuel cleaner I scoped #1 cylinder for carbon, first. Thinking of doing 505 CRO or Yamalube RF shock on that one. ..if carbon is still mostly there. Then do a EPR 109 flush Then will fill with Valvoline Restore and...
