Large Tongue and Groove Pliers: Channellock vs. Knipex

I buy about one new pair of Channellock 480 per year. I prefer them because the large straight jaws fit my work much better (2-4" diameter pipes, filter housings, and mechanical work). I really like the Knipex aggressive teeth, but the jaws appear a bit smaller. (I buy new Channellocks because...

    Port-a-Potty company names

Impressive heavy equipment repair with cutting, welding, machining, liquid nitrogen dipping.

Wow, the man knows his machine shop practices. I don't think I have seen that many different machining, grinding, and welding processes all together ever! And liquid nitrogen! Wow. Thank you Atikovi.

    Dewalt hand tools?

I bought several of the Dewalt socket sets just like you show, for work. The tools are nice and sturdy, though just a bit thick and heavy. It's typical for lower cost tools from overseas. The cases stack well.

    Softroader superiority thread

Ha - yes a good topic. Here's my '12 Forester with 2" lift and all terrain tires.

    World War II movie Greyhound

If anyone is inclined to read a nonfiction novel about the Atlantic convoys during WWII, check out: The Cruel Sea, by Nicholas Montsarrat Life on a destroyer in the open ocean is no joke. The courage of the merchant sailors was amazing as well.

    Ordering a Milwaukee M12 impact, 1/2 or 3/8?

3/8" impact drive, definitely! I got a Milwaukee M12 3/8 impact drive about five years ago, and it quickly became my second most-used tool. I use it for everything! Car tasks, lag bolt driving, occasional lug nuts (with a 1/2" square adapter), and all kinds of industrial maintenance. (I've got...

    Oil Drain vs Extraction

I really like my extractor - I use it for lots of things: engine oil, brake fluid reservoir cleanout, differentials, and even vacuuming out the coolant overflow reservoir. I've got an old 5-liter spherical shaped one but I ought to upgrade. I highly recommend extractors, especially when you...

I hate new car driver aids

This is a good topic for discussion. Generally I appreciate the newer safety features, especially when they are automatic. But some don't make sense. Example: The Nissan "drive the car between two semi trucks on the freeway" feature. It requires some strange interaction: 1. Decide to use the...

    Good charger to desulfate batteries.

I've had good luck with the Pulsetech XC100. I've got one maintaining my motorcycle for a few years, and another at a trailer. Pulsetech charger Other quality brand pulse type desulfators are probably quite similar, however.

    Emblem Adhesive Recommendation

Another vote for 3M emblem adhesive. It works well. I've also used 3M VHB "red" double-sided tape. It works for certain simple emblems in some cases.

    One for the wagon lovers

This is an interesting topic. The interesting thing is how most SUVs have "mellowed" and are essentially "slightly taller, slightly tough-looking" wagons. But we call them SUVs or CUVs or whatever. Many aren't even four wheel drive. Jeep Wagoneer?

What gauge Stainless sink should I buy?

JL, Don't get the 20-gauge. I recently cheaped out on a kitchen remodel and bought the "thinner" gauge stainless sink. It is really noticeable: 1. I makes noises when hot/cold water hits it. 2. The bottom buckles a little bit sometimes when full of water or heavy dishes. Get the slightly...

Did italian tune up - lifter tick gone!

That is cool. It reminded me, I do Italian tune-ups on my parents' cars every few months. Both of them rarely use more than 1/2 throttle and never approach redline. I visit them, warm the cars up fully, and "fully utilize" their engine and transmission capability. I also make sure the brakes...

    Drill Bits

After trying a bunch of drill bit types (TiN coated, cobalt, tungsten, etc.) in an industrial maintenance setting, I found that the Norseman bit sets are fantastic, and the holder is great too. Here is a link to an example: Norseman drill bit set link Made in USA too.
