I have Amsoil MTG in my 96 Corolla tranny. I have had it in now for 50,000 miles with good results - smooth shifting. I'll probably stick with the MTG on the next drain, but I have also had good results with Redline in my older Pathfinders.

I wanted to add that a leaking valve cover gasket was my first indication that something was wrong.... I have also had no problems with oil consumption with mine. In a 5k drain I might add a 1/2 quart max.

For the record, the girly VW is my wife's car For monitoring, I just pull the hose that leads up from the actual PCV valve on this engine. Checking the valve is a royal PITA, but this hose was clogged solid with sludge. I figure if this house starts to look nasty again, then I'll be on top of...

My 02 Passat 1.8T with 90K has had nothing but Full synthetic since day 1. Most of it was with a 5W-40. I ran some modest extended drains, 6500 or so, but I stuck with the 5K recommended drain interval for the most part. My PCV system was completely clogged at 75K and was painstakingly replaced...

I have the syncromax in my 92 TC. It's the same viscosity as an ATF (around 7.5cST) with gear oil protection. I give it the thumbs up. It's a GL-4 too, which gives me a little piece of mind because I have the manual tranny.

I just repaired a rather mucked up PCV system on my 2002 VW 1.8T (77K). The oil was very clean on the dipstick at the time due to a recent change, and I noticed that the oil got progressively darker over the next couple days. It's black now. Is there a correlation/explanation? Regardless, the...

First change was a drain/refill - about 3 quarts. One week later was a pan drop with filter change - about 5.5 quarts.

Well, I'm just about at 15K with the Pennzoil multi-vehicle ATF in my 02 Passat automatic. No complaints about the Pennzoil over the expensive OEM Esso fluid; however, I'm wondering if a bottle of Lubeguard Red is worth it for the next drain and refill I plan on doing shortly?

When I had my 89 Pathfinder, I distinctly remember using Amsoil/Mobil1 75W-90 gear oil in the TC, and differentials; however, I noticed on my 92 that ATF is now spec’d for the TC. I had thought they made that change in later Nissan’s only – post 95 after the first major revision. A quick check...
