It is good but far from the best. The GTL has been around since WWII. The real problem is availability. You simply cannot find the stuff when you need it. Mobil One and others are available at most retail stores at a great price.

Did you check the vehicle prior to driving it when it had only 17 miles on it? Many new cars/trucks are not always full up to the "full" line. I have had several new cars and trucks and I would estimate that 50% of them are not full up to the full line.

Have had excellent experience using Pennzoil Long life 15W-40 for many years. We have used in in many GM Duramax engines up to over 275,000 miles. I agree. Automatic transmission fluid turns brown when the clutch packs and bands begin to wear.

Nissan Maxima 3.5 will accept any good quality engine oil with the rating of 5W-30 and API of "SM". However, their automatic transmission or shall I say the CVT does require Nissan specific fluid.

It is not the CJ rated oil, it is the over active EGR valve and cycling (cleaning) of the Particulate filter in the exhaust system. The oil loads with heavy carbon products and without the CJ level of oil the changes would become even more frequent.
