An oil filter / oil combo won't cause slow acceleration - no. If the filter was giving you a flow issue - you'd hear noises coming from the engine bay... clatters, that kind of thing. Using a 15w40 oil may give you a more sluggish engine response, but 0w20 m1 ep - probably not. If you're certain...

$96 every two months here in Oregon. That's for a large 95 gallon trash can and standard sized recycle (that's provided free). Green bin would be extra, so I skip that.

I am not sure if I will get all 3 areas done, for now I think i will get the VC and oil pan...

That's good to know, I'll keep it in mind if it ever kicks back up again (hopefully not for a while considering they've been replaced). My folks had an ‘05 Mazda...
The engine is super easy on oil. I've used 5w20 and 5w30, it doesn't seem to care either way. No change of fuel economy in my case. Unfortunately the gaskets are garbage... I've had the pan gasket, valve cover gaskets, timing cover gasket, cam seal, and the extra little gasket below the cam seal...

Fair enough. I respectfully disagree though with the statement that higher quality 5w40 will hold their viscosity better and for longer.

Really man? Your reaction is like someone standing on a rock wall, getting ready to dive into a lake. You ask a group of experienced people "of these three spots, where should I jump?" And everyone says "none - over here is safer because the water is deeper." And you get upset because nobody...
I hate that they removed the mechanical assist from the injectors like the 7.3 had. Heck... I hate they changed a lot of mechanical things that the 7.3 had lol
