i also had an EJ253 equipped '05 RS and ran everything from 0W30 to 5W30, to 0W40 to 5W40. that car saw everything from daily duty to tracking, autocrossing and rallycrossing. my numbers were about the same (including a headgasket replacement at 88k miles). you've got tons of miles to go...
i think its a pretty uneventful looking report, seems most 4runner engines don't want to do anything but run. That said, I've been running M1 0W-40 in mine for years now and I think you'd be hard pressed to beat an oil of that thickness when its ~$25/jug down at the local wally world. here's my...
came here to suggest M1 0W-40 as well - sounds like it would be a perfect fit, you can find it at any walmart in the country, and the price is unbeatable. i use it in both my vehicles that are specced in the US for 20 and 30 weights but internationally for 40 weights, and its a great oil to beat...
i'd agree with Kevin that your results show something is wearing out of spec, period. how long it lasts is again, a bit up in the air BUT:
clean, manual TSX's are thin on the ground. they're one of Honda's best late model products and the K24 is a gem in and of itself - both are worth saving...
OP - results look fine, a little high compared to most cars for less than 3k miles but this also fits in with the nature of a fresh engine that's still not fully broken in. give in another year or two (depending on how often you change oil) and i bet you'll see all the wear metals drop and level...
given how low other wear metals are, and how young the engine is, its definitely concerning. doesn't seem like a bottom end issue but rather something with steel on steel contact.
from what i've heard, these hemis can have issues with cams and lifters (due to the MDS system) in which case the...
i really do need to run it longer, i just have a natural alarm in my brain that really gets antsy after about a year. you're probably right its fine to run out to 10k or more.
another 40wt UOA. this car spent a lot of time sitting at about 80mph for hours this go around (3600 RPM), so oil use is up a bit, but K20's are known for that. AL is up a little but i don't think its much to be concerned about, but its nice to see no PB. sees the 8,200 RPM limiter nearly every...
i think if you're tracking the car regularly, one of the first things to address is having an oil cooler installed along with a temp and pressure gauge. from there it might become a lot easier to document and manage your temps and then potentially go up multiple oil grades for added protection...
i'm in the exact same boat. went through my stash of M1 0W-40 for my K20 civic Si so I grabbed 2, 5qt jugs of the QS 5W-40 on sale for the same great price. for my application, if i see an ACEA A3/B4 or Porsche A40 cert on the back its good to go in my mind.
so far i've recorded no real...
