Amsoil Nano Tech Filter Highest Mileage Yet

2004 WRX here and 3000km as of right now. running amsoil series 2000 20-50. I will check at 12000km and try to continue every 5000km to 8000km. I will post up results when i get them. However i may not run the oil that long due to a long over due turbo swap. If all goes well with that, i may...

    Fram Strikes Again

the oil on my wrx turns black right right away. does not matter what filter i use. but again, oil color is always up for debate as some people say it shows the oil is working. Joe

    Manual Trans gear oil recommendation

I own a 2004 wrx and have the same feeling of the amsoil. To improve the shifting, i dropped a qt of the amsoil and added some penzoil synchomesh so i could shift again. Subaru trannies are notarious for (especially the wrx) for the hard to get into 1st gear and 1st gear grind. Although i...

Amsoil AE first impressions (k&n previous)

I will agree on the K&N being a pita, but basically i was just trying to set the proper expecations about the look and feel of the filter. I did not want to feel responsible for soemone buying one who was expecting snake oil type products (that look pretty but do nothing). I noticed it weighed...

Amsoil AE first impressions (k&n previous)

I got my amsoil ae panel filter for my 2004 WRX. I must say it did not look as nice as i though a 40 dollar filter should look. But here are a few more things i noticed when comparing the 2 filters) 1) K&N has 2 metal rods to supply rigidity 2) K&N has fewer and shallower pleats 3) K&N has a...

    Subaru oil consumption

ok i just wanted to add some food for thought. 1) from my understanding synthetics have smaller molecules and leak past seals easier. this could be one cause. especially in the turbo. 2) the high heat of the turbo could cuase these oils to break down and leak past the seals in such small doses...

I hate to have to do this to such a fine oil...

what i used to do for oil leaks on the front seal of my old chevy IROC (motor # 2 and 5) was wipe it clean with gas, then just apply silicoln. silicoln does not hold pressure, but this is a seeper, not a gusher. good luch though and be sure to remove all silicoln before reinstalling as you do...

    Blue Smoke 2004 WRX

ok guys, its usualy close to 100 here so 20-50 is what i have chosen to run. plus thicker oil drains slower so it stays on the cylinder walls longer and in the bearing and journals longer between start ups (also leaving a thicker film behind). in addition to that i have a turbo wich glows...

    Blue Smoke 2004 WRX

Just thought i would give you guys an update from my last situation. problem: 2004 WRX smoking blue from tail pipe every once in awhile. no miss, some oil present in intercooler piping, no play on turbo shaft. solution : changed oil back to amsoil 20-50 and problem has ceased to replicate...

Kudos to Blackstone, UOA 04 WRX 70K km

My bad. Viscosity 76.3 avg 69-78 flashpoint 385 fuel Insoluables .4 avg any ideas why the calcium , magnesium, phosphorus and zinc indicate. the good new i get from this is that moly is way low which means not a lot of upper engine wear due to the thicker oil. whoo hoo. thanks, Joe p.s...
