Just purchased a 2021 Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring, which is a hybrid. Any recommendations on oil? I generally go with Mobil 1 0-20 for most all of my recent cars. However, now I have a fully-electric Mustang and the Corsair.
Mobil One (the only synthetic to use IMHO) does not sell a 5W40. I know the 0W40 is approved for my '15 VW Golf TSI (gas) but the Owners Manual recommends 5W40.
I could ask "why doesn't Mobil market 5W40 Mobil 1," but the real question is what are the advantages of either grade? I live in...
Stick with Mobil 1. I don't know that I've ever heard of anyone on BITOG have a negative experience. Full disclosure: My son is a Chemical Engineer at the ExxonMobil site that makes M1.
Several years ago I got into the Auto RX flush craze, Seemed to be a well-documented effective product. Haven't thought of the product for a long time and wonder what success people have had with it.
I use Mobil 1 0W40 and plan to keep using it, but 5W40 is what the manual calls for and at the first free oil change by the Dealer they used 5W40 as well. Probably Castrol.
I have a 2015 Golf TSI 6 speed -- blue one. Beautiful car, feels very high quality, fast, solid, holds the road well. Couldn't be happier after 12,000 miles.
I have a 2015 VW Golf TSI (gas) which calls for 5W40. I only use Mobil 1 products, but this weight says its for Turbo Diesels. Can I use it in my 6 speed Golf?
What was upgraded by the prior owner that I know of:
Vortech V9F ]Supercharger System
Racing Beat Header and Exhaust
Racing Beat Aluminum Flywheel
Stage 1 Clutch Upgrade
I appreciate all the input. I haven't even seen the Miata in person (on line purchase) and am way out of my league on this stuff. In the interest of full disclosure, my son is an engineer with ExxonMobil, so we are definitely biased when it comes to oil and oil filters--Mobil 1 all the way!
I...
Great suggestions and insights, folks. It does seem penny-foolish to use 5W20 for this car that has run 180,000 miles exclusively on 5W30, the last 80,000 or so on Mobil 1. So, I'll stick with 5W30 Mobil 1 and have the valves checked to boot.
Thanks, all.
