Mobil 1 5w50 SuperCar API SP (DexosR)

Here are the Blackstone results of the same sample listed above.

2021 Ford Mustang GT500, Mobile 1 Supercar 5w50, 6hrs track time plus some street miles.

Here are the Blackstone results for the same sample as above. These results are in line with the Speediagnostix results, except viscosity which is showing much lower on the Blackstone results (they always do). Considering the VOA of this same oil showed 1200ppm zinc, I can only surmise there has...

I can only speculate, but there is some additive depletion to be expected in a used oil sample. We will see when the Blackstone report gets here, probably in a couple weeks. For track use, oil shearing is the biggest concern, and it is why Ford specs 4hrs of track time as their oil change...

2021 Ford Mustang GT500, Mobile 1 Supercar 5w50, 6hrs track time plus some street miles.

I sent off a VOA of this oil before I used it to blackstone. I also sent a UOA to blackstone in addition to Speediagnostix. I'm curious to compare the results from Blackstone, to see if additive levels are closer to the VOA numbers. I had 24qts of this oil, it takes 12 per change, so I'm on my...

I'm still waiting on the Blackstone results.

2021 Ford Mustang GT500, Mobile 1 Supercar 5w50, 6hrs track time plus some street miles.

Here is a UOA from my 2021 Ford Mustang GT500. This UOA consists of 3 track days, an auto cross, and some street miles. The track was Circuit of the Americas in Austin Texas, and the days consisted of about 2hrs each day. Total miles on this oil change, track or street, was around 1000. Total...

Metal vs. Rubber Valve Stems video

Every car I've ever had came with Rubber valve stems, but my Shelby came with metal. I assumed it was due to the tpms being located in the valve stem, but other similar applications use rubber. Maybe wheel speed?

Any street tire offer better dry traction than Michelin Pilot Sport 4S ?

I currently have PS4S on my GT500, and I have murdered them at the track. Not a particularly great track tire, but amazing on the street. However my next tire will be the Goodyear Eagle Supercar 3, which all my Mustang buddies have had good success with as a dual purpose street/track tire. The...

Mobil 1 5w50 SuperCar API SP (DexosR)

I will have a UOA on this oil, in fact the same oil this sample came from, in about a month. I have an upcoming track day next weekend, and that will make a total of 3 track days (all day events), plus some street miles and some autocrosses. Should give a decent indication of how it holds up for...

    Fluids for 2016 Mustang GT

BRAKES: No brake fluid is going to last you a season. Change your fluid before every event, or at least get some new fluid in the calipers with a short bleeding. Higher boiling point fluids are usually MORE hydroscopic, meaning they work well for a short time but need more frequent changing...

Mobil 1 5w50 SuperCar API SP (DexosR)

Blackstone is off, I'd trust the mobil spec for this oil, which is 18.1cst. Every VOA I've ever sent into blackstone has read low on viscosity.

Mobil 1 5w50 SuperCar API SP (DexosR)

DexosR is most likely not based on FSx2, the viscosity (higher for DexosR), pour point (lower for DexosR), and density is slightly different. I'm not going to say which oil has the better base oil, but will point out DexosR is about 30% more expensive per quart. I just completed a full track...

Any benefit to one top tier gas over another?

I can't speak to the additives, but I did an octane study about 4yrs ago, and the best 93 octane was purchased from Mobil/Exxon stations with Synergy+. My study involved datalogging knock and spark retard over a preset course and drive pattern, and Synergy+ 93 octane increased spark and reduced...

Mobil 1 5w50 SuperCar API SP (DexosR)

None, and they were definitely not intended, but probably anticipated. Its the nature of the beast for any high performance engine, there are usually compromises to achieve max performance, packaging, cost, etc. The nature of their use sometimes highlights issues a street car won't experience...

Mobil 1 5w50 SuperCar API SP (DexosR)

The LT6 engine in the z8 Z06 devours oil, and fuel dilutes the hell out of it. GM knew that, and specced 1200ppm zinc anyways, because they needed the anti-wear. 5.5 liters, 8600rpm, near 700hp, that thing is a beast. I doubt any of those cars will ever see high enough mileage to kill a cat...
