Air through oil bypass valve normal?

I decided to bring it back to basics, and go with the Yamaha oil filters just to make things easy as the dealer is right down the street from me. All the filters i just picked up, you can blow as hard as you can on the bypass valves. No air gets through what so ever. The Wix equivalent...

Air through oil bypass valve normal?

Yes sir. Wix filter 57933. Small cylinder shaped open paper element. Metal to metal seal on the bypass valve at 1 end. Air blows straight through 3 of the 4. The fourth filter has moderate resistance when I blow on it, but air still gets by. Which in my mind if air is getting by. Oil is...

Air through oil bypass valve normal?

Suspected as much. The bypass should be opening only in the event that it actually needs to bypass a clogged filter, or bypass Delta across the filter due to thick oil during cold start. Thanks for your interest and reply.

Air through oil bypass valve normal?

Yes sir. The used oem Yamaha filters I still have are tight as a drum. No air able to pass at all. I do not have any new ones to check if the bypass valve allows anything through. No matter how hard you try. 3 out of 4 of the wix filters I can just blow air though. I depressed the center of...

Air through oil bypass valve normal?

I have a motorcycle with a shared engine/trans oil sump and it uses a small paper cartridge filter in the engine case for oil filtration and i just got replacements to change the oil. Never thought to do this before, but since this is a small open type cartridge filter with bypass valve at the...

    2017 6.7 Powerstroke UOA

I think I am going to drop back to around 300 hours. Which will take me to 10000 miles based on my current driving habits. That will most likely when the oil life monitor triggers. I’ll be watching for your uoa of t6. Curious to see how you make out with it.

    2017 6.7 Powerstroke UOA

New UOA just in. 425 Hours on oil sample. 12550 Miles. Not too confident in the TBN on this. Seems high for 425 hours on T6 5w40 based on the last uoa being the same hours, but I could be wrong. Makes me question the accuracy of some other numbers on this report. The viscosity appears to be...

Any chance you could ask the lab if they have any sample left to double check the fuel? May possibly be an error? Also, did you have a regen cycle run preceding the oil sampling? I have made it a habit to not pull a sample near an active regen, thinking the oil may have higher fuel...

    Amalgamated tdr-fl

In a gasoline engine, high concentrations of mmt with create orange soot that will trash your cat and sensors similar to what lead will do. I have seen it first hand. The epa note above states at that specific concentration mmt is not harmful to emissions equipment. I reached out to amalgamated...

    Amalgamated tdr-fl

I agree with you. It helps with combustion, and binds to the soot to make it more easily combusted, however was known to clog catalytic converters in gasoline engines. Now I know we are dealing with diesel and dpf system. Curious at what rate it would accumulate in the dpf, since the dpf is a...

Curious with maganese oxide residue. Would I be trading soot levels for maganese oxide residue build up in the pdf. http://www.meca.org/galleries/files/Schindler.pdf http://www.meca.org/galleries/files/Sierra_Research_Auto_Industry_MMT_Report_August_2008.pdf I had a buddy that was addicted to...

Do you think pulling an oil sample right after a long regen would lead to elevated fuel dilution in the sample?

    Amalgamated tdr-fl

I have read some good things about this. My interest is to lower soot levels from combustion to extend life of dpf. Not necessarily add in the regen process. One ingredient is maganese. Any pitfalls from having manganese in the fuel system and it getting into the engine oil...
