    DMV experience

Bingo. For my daughters' two drivers tests & trips to get their permit, we went 30 mins out of town to the next one over. A much quicker and easier operation, even including driving time. Plus, it gave me an excuse to get an ice cream with them. :)

One nice thing about AAA is that you can do some DMV services there. We did a transfer of ownership there; so much quicker than waiting at our local DMV.

Keeping external drive plugged in to desktop 24/7

Its going to act as the data drive for the family desktop.

    Oil filter wasn't changed

Since you're trying to diagnose what (might have) happened, here's another scenario--possibly the filter was changed, but they gave you an old filter that had been sitting around for years. As others are saying, I would look at the date code. And beyond that, if your schedule permits, I'd...

Keeping external drive plugged in to desktop 24/7

My concern was basically if it would wear down the drive, being plugged in 24/7.

Keeping external drive plugged in to desktop 24/7

I am looking for a replacement desktop for wifey. She saves tons of pics & videos (she's the family photographer), and she is maxing out a Tb on her documents partition as it is. Most computer makers on their sites, only offer up to 2 tb hard drives; I was hoping to get 4. I'm wondering--would...

1973 New Yorker is rear-ended by Kia Forte

I'll never forget driving a Toyota Corolla into the bumper of a large American pickup truck. Our vehicle of course had a hood that looked like an accordion; the owner of the pickup just stepped outside the vehicle, saw that nothing was damaged, exchanged contact info, and then drove off. :)

As someone here said in that recent thread comparing German, American, & Japanese cars, there is no substitute for mass. Those ratings only compare cars in a similar class.

Fram TG 3600 and Valvoline Restore & Protect.

At first, I was tempted to ask what the date code was--thinking we might be able to save its reputation by saying that it was an old geezer of a filter. But I don't think that would have looked good the day it was put in a box. :(

Fram TG 3600 and Valvoline Restore & Protect.

I only moved to the 3600 a few years back, because the 3614 seemed to have a disproportionate number of tears & stuff like the above here. Well I'll keep my fingers crossed and see what mine look like.....

Fram TG 3600 and Valvoline Restore & Protect.

The 3600 line was my last hope for Frams. If either of the two TG3600s look like that when I take them off later this year, I'm sworn off fram.
