No more Wix for me (Wix is good, but . . .)

nah, on these filters (at least the older styles u showed) the filter pleats could rip open before the can does😟. I've had an old mann-hummel made Mobil 1 filter pleats ripped with less than 3000 miles. What's even worse is the excessive glue pieces they use would also come off and float inside...

New STP Max Performance S7317ML (Made in Vietnam) Cut Open

I'll add that later. According to AutoZone's website, it's a silicone gasket. It's black in color and looks the same as shown on their website. Here's the link: https://www.autozone.com/p/stp-maximum-performance-engine-oil-filter-s7317ml/1572357

New STP Max Performance S7317ML (Made in Vietnam) Cut Open

It's around $12, depending on applications. It's cheaper than the Carquest EP but looks very similar.

New STP Max Performance S7317ML (Made in Vietnam) Cut Open

The exact name was STP Maximum Life. I think now (or since the previous version), it's called maximum performance. I'll change the title to avoid confusion.

New STP Max Performance S7317ML (Made in Vietnam) Cut Open

Just bought and cut a new STP S7317ML (Vietnam made) oil filter. It's a recently updated full synthetic filter, supposedly made by Premium Guard (at least, with many parts from Premium Guard). STP Max Life oil filter/Max Performance used to be made by Champion Labs, which is similar to Fram...

    New STP7317ML Oil Filter

Maxlife used to be made by Champ, as far as i know. With the champ going out of business, they are probably having new ones made by premium guard? Is the filter media white (synthetic looking)? The old Champion Labs-made Maxlife is pretty much the same as Fram Endurance, Amsoil EAO, etc., and...

Does Shell/Pennzoil GTL Cause Less GDI Intake Valve Deposits?

Generally, an oil with less viscosity grade spread (5W-20, 10W-30, as opposed to 0w-30 for example) tends to be more stable (less NOACK loss, fewer oil droplets on the intake valve). (It also depends on base oil quality, additives pack, etc.) Pennzoil ultra platinum or platinum should be pretty...

    New STP7317ML Oil Filter

wow. I was just searching for info about this filter recently. Thank u for the post. This looks like the fram endurance. But not sure if they're gonna change design since champion labs is out of business.

    New Carquest EP Oil Filters

IMO, the synthetic media itself would offer many benefits. They typically flow better under the same rating, and trap dirt better (they hold dirt inside the media, instead of just surface loading and falling to the bottom, which could bypass the filtration in a bypass event. Motor oil geek has a...

Mobil 1 Advanced Clean finally on sale today? Looks like it.

Mobil is really behind on marketing...I mean, they need to at least tell what the difference is between the oil they are selling. Like the previous debate on Mobil 1 Truck and SUV vs Mobil 1 Extended Performance, now it's determining between Mobil 1 Extended Performance vs Mobil 1 Truck and SUV...

Is BP TopTier+ Approved? A local BP station showed the sticker...

I've also sent a follow-up email earlier, and they replied with the same stuff as what you've received. I guess the BP's sticker is legit, maybe they are not ready to announce yet...

Is BP TopTier+ Approved? A local BP station showed the sticker...

The station was built last year, IIRC. But the stickers were put on probably last month. BP website says their fuel "exceeds" TopTier requirements. I guess we'll wait and see.

Is BP TopTier+ Approved? A local BP station showed the sticker...

Here's an update on this... Got an email reply from Top Tier. However, their reply is very vague, and does NOT explicitly say whether BP's sticker is legit or not. (They said they will announce once a brand is fully converted and when the brand is ready to be announced...) Based on so many...
