    2006 Scion xB w/ 65k miles - which viscosity?

Stick with whatever oil viscosity the manuafacturer recommends in the owners manual, I believe for a 2006 Scion XB, it is 5w30. Any 5w30 synthetic oil, no matter the brand will be fine with your car and protect better then conventional oil.

    Switch from 5w30 to 10w40

No water-cooled bearing housing. 6.5 psi Stock motor No oil cooler currently, I do have one from when I was using a supercharger, need to work on extending the oil lines as the charge pipe for the intercooler is now in the way. I really like Motul's racing motor oil, how would you say Redline...

    Switch from 5w30 to 10w40

I want the definitive answer to whether it is okay to switch from the manufacturer recommended 5w30 to a 10w40 motor oil? I recently put a turbo on my 2006 Scion TC and plan on tracking the car, should I switch to 10w40? I'm sure this topic has been discussed several times, I've read that due...

    Valvoline VR1 10w30 - 1219 mi - Scion TC

So what kind of oil do you suggest? Now that I've added an oil cooler, I'm hoping that it'll help with the oil shearing. I'm fairly happy with the report, it seems like the oil did its job in protecting my engine considering that I drove 90 track miles in 5 sessions, each 15-20 mins non stop...

Is it okay to use 5w40 instead of 5w30?

Hey guys, Thanks for all the informative information. Here's a little more info about my car. It is supercharged and has 130k, mainly from lots of freeway driving daily with occasional spirited drives in the canyons and track days . I replaced the pcv valve like someone suggested yesterday...

Is it okay to use 5w40 instead of 5w30?

Is it okay to use 5w40 in my car that the manufacturer calls for 5w30? I'm so confused on the topic of switching to a higher weight oil. Ie. Tight Bearing clearance of today modern engines. The reason I want to try 5w40 is because I've noticed more oil consumption then normal but have no leaks...

That's with 2.2% Fuel Dilution. Pretty impressive, I think. Obviously, with a supercharger, it might...

    Castrol Edge 5w30 UOA

Wow, thanks for all the great input and comments. The temps here in California were pretty cool, I would say average temps were 80F when I used this oil. With the summer heat coming very soon, I still shouldn't worry about using this oil?

    Castrol Edge 5w30 UOA

2006 Scion TC Castrol Edge 5w30 changed at 5000 miles. I drove 60+ miles everyday for work and two spirited driving runs through some canyon roads on this oil. This is the fifth oil change I've used Castrol Edge and I really like the way my car feels so I decided to send the Castrol Edge in for...
