Awful Start Up Tapping After Sitting Several Weeks (Video Link Inside)

Right, by all accounts none of this should have happened, it's definitely abnormal. Given all the pieces of information and surrounding factors, I still can't quite determine why this happened and then continue on as if nothing occurred. Piston slap? Exhaust leak? Maybe. I'm not sure.

Awful Start Up Tapping After Sitting Several Weeks (Video Link Inside)

Now that you mention it, it does sound a bit like an exhaust leak. Normally, the Jeep has never sat more than 7-10 days when I rotate shift weeks in the winter. It was also during the coldest weeks of the winter that it was sitting in the garage for 3-4 weeks. I think the temp in there was...

Awful Start Up Tapping After Sitting Several Weeks (Video Link Inside)

For various life reasons, I hadn't started my 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited for a few weeks. I put it on a battery tender during that period, so it cranked fine that day. Since it had been sitting for so long, I gave it a few seconds of cranking in clear flood mode to help get oil back up to the...

    MicroGard MGL57712 product source change

I recently (in the last few months) noticed the price of the Microgard Select dropped from $10.99 to $9.99 at my local O'Reilly's. This immediately made me suspicious, as prices are rarely lowered for no apparent reason. After investigating my preferred size filters on the shelf, I noticed that...

Fram Synthetic Endurance FE8A Cut Open

Fram built such a good mouse trap that they had to discontinue it and decontent its replacement.

Check out my magnets on my oil filter

If an individual has that much ferrous metal material circulating in their oiling system, there are likely serious problems developing, or already developed. Furthermore, there is a point of diminishing returns with something like that.

Check out my magnets on my oil filter

If you need that many magnets, you have bigger problems than oil and oil filtration.

    Microguard Select MSL51334 C&P

That glue job looks like it belongs in the Louvre, framed on a wall, compared to most filters these days.

Fram Endurance - synthetic and wire backed

This reminds me of the modern automotive landscape of CUVs...about 5 different derivations of the same thing at slightly different price points. Pointless and crass. What a shameless cash grab, screw First Brands and their brands.

    Microgard Select - No Love?

I just installed one on my Jeep Wrangler, transitioned from the Mobil 1 filter. After tearing that one apart, it's a pretty nice filter...just not $15-16 nice. With the MSL, I feel like I'm getting what I'm paying for. If high single digits and low double digits is our brave new world, I'll...

Which do you prefer? Holes? Louvers? Be prepared for your mind to be blown..... A Third Option!

My newest filter is a Micogard Select. One of the things I like best about it are the holes. You don't have to wonder about them - they're either open or they aren't.

What’s this? A Fram with Louvers?

That makes sense. I figured there had to be a simple reason like this one.

Best Oil Filter Reviews from The Drive

If that's the case, how do they justify the price they're listing the Titanium at? The cool, black, anti-slip coating?

Is anyone aware of the new Wix filter ADBV leaking now?

Pour one out for the OG Wix...if it hasn't already leaked out the base plate.
