    Rethinking My Oil Change Intervals

You make a fair point, the same thought has crossed my mind. It seems like Mobil 1 Truck and SUV is a very shear-stable, quality oil, so hopefully it can do some heavy lifting for me and maintain a nice TBN for a year. I've got two more jugs, and I'd love to be able to stretch those out a little...

    Rethinking My Oil Change Intervals

That is one nice thing about the Pentastar. It just has regular MPFI, so unless I have a bad injector or don't run the oil hot enough, there shouldn't be too much problem with fuel dilution.

    Rethinking My Oil Change Intervals

Hey folks, looking to dip into the Brain Trust here for a moment. I've got a 2024 Jeep Gladiator, it doesn't get a lot of annual mileage on it, probably 2,500 to 3,000 per year due to life and work circumstances. It also doesn't see a lot of hard work, except for when it's fully loaded with...

    Current top 0w-20’s?

Out of curiosity, what'd you go with after?

    Current top 0w-20’s?

I'm considering this for my Gladiator as well, as it's still available by mail from my local Walmart. Does anyone have any substantive information on benefits it offers? I've heard it's more shear-resistant. 🤷‍♂️

Winter OCI Oil For the Frozen Tundra

Thanks, everyone, for the feed back and insights. I appreciate it! My vehicle is garaged, but while parked at work will be exposed to the elements of course. I am considering installing a block heater, but just haven't gotten around to it. It's not very often, but the air temp can dip into the...

Winter OCI Oil For the Frozen Tundra

I'm on a bi-annual OCI for my 2024 Jeep Gladiator, primarily because I only put on about 5,000 miles a year, if that. My current plan is to change the oil in the fall and once more in early spring. That allows me to optimize my oil selection for the winters we experience in North Dakota. It's...

Awful Start Up Tapping After Sitting Several Weeks (Video Link Inside)

Right, by all accounts none of this should have happened, it's definitely abnormal. Given all the pieces of information and surrounding factors, I still can't quite determine why this happened and then continue on as if nothing occurred. Piston slap? Exhaust leak? Maybe. I'm not sure.

Awful Start Up Tapping After Sitting Several Weeks (Video Link Inside)

Now that you mention it, it does sound a bit like an exhaust leak. Normally, the Jeep has never sat more than 7-10 days when I rotate shift weeks in the winter. It was also during the coldest weeks of the winter that it was sitting in the garage for 3-4 weeks. I think the temp in there was...

Awful Start Up Tapping After Sitting Several Weeks (Video Link Inside)

For various life reasons, I hadn't started my 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited for a few weeks. I put it on a battery tender during that period, so it cranked fine that day. Since it had been sitting for so long, I gave it a few seconds of cranking in clear flood mode to help get oil back up to the...

    MicroGard MGL57712 product source change

I recently (in the last few months) noticed the price of the Microgard Select dropped from $10.99 to $9.99 at my local O'Reilly's. This immediately made me suspicious, as prices are rarely lowered for no apparent reason. After investigating my preferred size filters on the shelf, I noticed that...

Fram Synthetic Endurance FE8A Cut Open

Fram built such a good mouse trap that they had to discontinue it and decontent its replacement.

Check out my magnets on my oil filter

If an individual has that much ferrous metal material circulating in their oiling system, there are likely serious problems developing, or already developed. Furthermore, there is a point of diminishing returns with something like that.
