What's in your filter? Media types explained

Must be a 'town kid' thing. I and every other farmer I knew when I farmed knew Fleetguard. It was one of the brands we used or at least had locally available for the tractors and trucks and such. I'd be very pleased to use Fleetguard on the car(s) and such now, but you'd need to make...

Yes, and copper is down, not up (lower than it has ever been) in this report. So while the tin may come from bearings, it is of absolutely no significance that it is here today, but was absent previously.

No, but his 'interpretation' sells! (-:

For those thinking the tin means bearings: What bearing alloy are you thinking that is?

Current user of T6, but what do you experts think of this Fram 15w-40 made by Amalie

Sorry about that. I can't edit that post any longer. The ML article is a 404, but the forum thread is what I meant. HOWEVER, I think I put the wrong link in or something. Glycerol monooleate was the FM mentioned in a different thread (by Shannow) in that other sub-forum. Sadly, the external...

That's probably because they're frequently organic compounds, so one wouldn't be able to see them on the VOAs we see on this forum, or because they are organometallic but indistinguishable in a VOA from other compounds that have the same metal(s) in them. Here is a link that displays organic...

    Amsoil 5W-30 HM VOA

I should add that I have no comment on whether those ranges are 'good' or 'bad' with respect to what other blenders do. I simply note it's listed as a range, but the range is less than the full range of the J300 grade allowance.

    Amsoil 5W-30 HM VOA

No. They list the range within which their product (is intended to?) falls. Here is an example from one of their 5W30 products: Viscosity @ 40C, cSt (ASTM D445) 62.0-71.0 Viscosity @ 100C, cSt (ASTM D445) 11.0-12.49 EDIT: Here is a link to the spec sheet I took those numbers from...

    Amsoil 5W-30 HM VOA

True. We notice, for example, that Schaeffer doesn't list a single number for viscosity. They list a small range.

Feed Ramp gouge on Ruger MKIV target

If you bought it there, and your dealer is worth anything at all, they'll send it back to Ruger for you (no charge).

Oil shearing in Ford 5.0L engines

The oil's viscosity is very high at cold start, so if the tick is there when cold as well, it seems somewhat unlikely the reason for the tick is low viscosity. That said, sometimes a person says something because it's easier than trying to provide a thorough, detailed technical answer, and...

    1.5l Skyactiv G Miata 2018 2.5% Fuel Dilution?

2.5% (assuming a GC number) is pretty typical for a SkyActive-G, maybe even slightly lower than average.

Are all boron additives necessarily borate esters? I thought they were not, thus my question.
