Used Maxlife in a Hyundai XG350!

That's right - I just did a drain and fill on a friend's Hyundai XG350L with the five-speed auto. It specs Hyundai's SP-III fluid, but that stuff costs $gold around here so I bought some Valvoline Maxlife Dex/Merc and put that in instead. It shifts like absolute butter now! It's unbeleivably...

    Oil for the Alcan!

It's a Volvo - you can debate oil all you want - it's going to develop some kind of weird electrical gremlins long before anything else.

Will PP 10-30 work in a yamaha blaster?

I wouldn't do it, but that's just me. Go get some Rotella T6 5w-40. Works well in stuff with wet clutches.

    All confused about coolant now......

People still use undiluted coolant because sometimes it's necessary to use the the type you mix with water to create a mixture that is, perhaps, 60% antifreeze/40% water for colder climates.

Rotella T6 OK for Turbo Optima?

It'll be great. The oil you use won't impact catalytic converter life unless you're consuming a considerable amount of oil - and even then it must not be entirely too detrimental. Look at all the Saturns running around killing mosquitoes with original exhaust and emissions equipment! (All that...

Pro-King or Wix or Dealer ATF filter

I wouldn't use a junky filter on something so expensive to repair. Is it absolutely necessary to change the filter? If your trans is creating enough debris to clog the filter you've got much more serious problems.

    Changing my coolant next week

There shouldn't be a problem draining/refilling the radiator. That's all that many cars service schedules require. On most cars you're draining about half of the coolant that way. As long as you're adding enough coolant back to replenish some of the corrosion inhibitors/etc. you're doing more...

    Permatex Blue RTV?

I'd give it a while. In my experience RTV, unless it's being used as a mild adhesive to hold a paper gasket on, should be allowed a good 8-12 hours before the part it's used on is placed in service. Even when you're just using it to hold a gasket it's a decent idea to let it set up for a minimum...
