I agree with those suggesting Kroil as a penetrating oil, given patience, it'll penetrate just about anything, works better with heat.
Ballistol has a very distinct smell, and works well for 'shining' something up.

S&W gun lubes and cleaners are some of the most hideously smelling of any gun product I've ever tried. However, it did a great job. But so did many other gun lubes, and I imagine, products designed for automotive use.
I wonder if anybody has Seafoamed their bore? :P
All of these are multi-grade oils, hence the 5W-30, 10W-30, etc.
At cold cranking temperature the oils are different viscosities, the higher the number, the thicker the oil. At operating temperature, they all function as a 30 or 40 weight oil.

I wouldn't use such a thick grease without thinning it out first with some good, light oil (like CLP) on a firearm. You won't have any problems doing that.
If it were me, I'd use a gun lube, though.
