    Gun specific lubricant vs repurposed oils/greases

    S&W gun lubes and cleaners are some of the most hideously smelling of any gun product I've ever tried. However, it did a great job. But so did many other gun lubes, and I imagine, products designed for automotive use. I wonder if anybody has Seafoamed their bore? :P

    Going from 10W40 to something thinner???

    thinning out grease?

    I wouldn't use such a thick grease without thinning it out first with some good, light oil (like CLP) on a firearm. You won't have any problems doing that. If it were me, I'd use a gun lube, though.
