    Quirky features on your cars?

My C8 2022 Corvette has the interior 12v power socket under the glove box on the passenger side. You cannot see or reach it from the drivers seat. I think they designed the interior of the car, and at the last minute discovered they forgot a power socket. So they stuck it where they could...

    Unexpected guest

I live on a dead end road. Sometimes get someone who is "lost" up my 500 foot driveway. I ask them what they are looking for. Often it is a road that doesn't exist around here. Have my 380 in my pocket as I talk to them. We used to have an idiot guy up the road who always seemed to have...

    The Animal Shelters Are Full...

My present cats were adopted from a shelter as a "bonded pair", meaning they grew up and lived together in a household and both had to be given up at the same time. It is clear that they are the best of companions, and their adjustment to their new home (my home) was near instantaneous and they...

    First Tesla purchase turning sour.

True, but a 20 year old car, even one with a brand new replacement battery, is still a 20 year old car. The car's suspension, interior, steering, etc also wears with age and mileage. A new battery in an old car would still be an old car.

    First Tesla purchase turning sour.

The problem with buying an old electric car is, its battery is old in age and represents older technology. When it wears out and should be replaced, the cost of replacement may exceed the value of the old car.

    First Tesla purchase turning sour.

I won't buy an electric car until the roads have overhead power wires and the cars have pantographs.

Is the recommended 0-20 bad for engine life?

My Lexus calls for 0w-20. Many of the trips are short ones, 3 miles to the post office, 3 miles back. Its all downhill leaving my house for those three miles, dropping 1000 vertical feet. The engine is barely used to propel the car. In fact, its mostly used for engine braking, so I don't...

    Which off these Lexus

We bought a 2019 RX350 with a naturally aspirated V6 that runs on 87 octane fuel. It gets 25-27 mpg. The current RX350 has a turbo 4 Its long term engine reliability is yet to be proven. But the 3.5 V6 has been around for years and should be good for 300,000 miles with good care.

Why are OEM tires so bad?

The worst, least suitable OEM tires were on my 1964 Corvette. It was capable of 130 mph plus, but came from the factory with two ply bias ply Firestone DeLuxe Champion whitewall tires. Same as they put on a Chevy Bel Air. I replaced them with Pirelli radials.

Finally scratched my watch itch this morning

Were you on your surfboard, snorkeling or swimming while under time constraint? I could see a need for an accurate timer if diving down to a sunken ship, but a swim? My need to tell time is usually to get to an appointment or work on time.
