2016 Ford Fusion 1.5 stumbling idle with a/c

Not sure what its connection would be to the electrical load, but just looking at the LTFT, has the owner replaced the purge valve? If memory serves, those are a common issue on 2.3 ecoboosts, but I’m not sure about the 1.5. I’d test the purge valve and do an idle relearn and see where that...

LSJr tests and discusses DexosD babymax oils

I just don’t know how anyone with as much experience as he has can put any weight into comparing UOAs from a variety of different sue cases. Putting aside the fact that he’s trying to compare wear metals on a UOAs to reach a conclusion, the majority of those UOAs are from different people, we...

Motive Pressure Bleeder adapter for Hondas

I struggled with the same thing on my RDX. I finally gave up and just ran a hose from the bleeder into a bottle with brake fluid. I’d open the bleeder, go pump the brakes a couple of times, close the bleeder and then refill the reservoir. Works like a charm.

A B-52 crashed today on takeoff

Wouldn’t surprise me. It’s not unusual to have test and evaluation folks from both program offices on test flights. It’s still tight-lipped about who the people were onboard, which is just fine. The families of those involved should get time to process before names are released.

A B-52 crashed today on takeoff

Still a lot to unpack here. I believe this was a B-52 Radar Modernization Program test flight. There were two Boeing employees onboard, along with flight crew. I know the B-52 RMP program is based here in OKC, but I’m not sure if those employees were OKC folks. Absolutely heartbreaking. I can’t...

Price of Amsoil going up at midnight

Looks like it was about $1.50/quart.

Toyota’s stance on using a heavier weight oil

I suspect that hybrids will continue to be looked at as temporary solutions to bridge wide-scale EV production/adoption, but I think hybrids will become the backbone of powertrains for a long time. In all reality, it is the perfect solution based on current technology and needs. While I have a...

Are you for or against Data Centers?

My problem with data centers is what is being spent/consumed to produce something that we don't know will be needed in the future at such scale. Incredible amounts of money is being spent, daily disruptions being caused to communities, resources being committed, and more all to provide compute...

Motor Oil Geek (LSJ) First 5,000 Mile Recommendation?

There was a SAE paper floating around here a while back on this topic. I haven't been able to find it, otherwise I'd post it again. Essentially, they found that transmissions shed the vast majority of the unit's total lifetime wear in the first 12k miles. Changing the fluid at 5k miles won't...

    FICO Score Inflation?

Again, there is no single "credit score". There are a wide array of ways to calculate a "score" based upon what the credit bureau is looking for in making lending decisions. American Express will show you your FICO Score 8 using Experian Data. If you have access to another credit card that...

    FICO Score Inflation?

There's a variance because each FICO score is designed to gauge a person's credit worthiness in varying scenarios. Looking for general credit worthiness? FICO Score 8 and 9 are the most common uses. For a car loan? Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion all use Auto Score 8 and/or 9, but each also...

What's the sales tactic of having "Sold" signs for cars?

One of the worst things that happened to me as a car salesman was landing a customer on a car that was recently sold by another salesman, either through an online sale or onsite but we were awaiting paperwork/trade in/repairs, etc. As a customer, I also wouldn't want to spend time looking at...

Tesla Finally Has Its First Semi-Truck

Probably so. I would say, however, that without those incentive programs, Tesla probably doesn't take on this endeavor. No one is making a program like this work without that help. A lot of companies couldn't make it work even with those programs (Lordstown, NIkola, Volta, etc).

Russell makes it interesting (spoiler alert)

It's not a great source. I saw it from a Ferrari page on social media somewhere. That's why I caveated it with it being a "big if". Seeing how much Merc sandbagged the preseason, I wouldn't be surprised if they still were in some way. It's also kinda convenient how close the Ferraris are to...

Russell makes it interesting (spoiler alert)

I read this morning that Ferrari believes that they have proof that Merc is sandbagging their engine performance to keep Ferrari within the 2% margin, denying them the ADUO window. If they have that proof, and that's a big if, then Merc can be in serious trouble. That's very much against the rules.
