    1000 Collector Cars

Yikes! That's a dead ringer for my very first car, a red '65 Simca 1000. Had no clue what a death trap it was! Bought it from my little brother for $100 when we were teens. We bought another one for parts, and swapped out the rear transaxle with just a bare minimum of tools, and no repair...

Do you have an order or build sheet for any of your vehicles?

Found the build sheet for my 1979 Cadillac Coupe DeVille under the back seat. Has color codes for interior/exterior etc.

    1965 442 value guidance

I used to be in the vintage car parts biz, and sold parts for some of these models ( I think I still have some wheel well moldings). Car is certainly worth more than 15k.

    PT Cruiser lighting

My wife misses the one she had. I don't miss the maintenance/repairs. BTW, have these stashed away in my workshop:

    Post your last tire/wheel purchase

Yeah, Vogues are still quite popular. I looked at some, but could not get them in 225/75 size.

What is the best way to get a snake out of a car?

Funny story. Couple weeks ago I had my vintage Caddy jacked up to remove the wheels. I had my wife apply pressure to the brake pedal so I could get the front wheels off. When I was done, I opened the car door so she could get out. I saw something tannish and long on the car threshold plate. I...

Hit a deer can it be fixed?

Lots of roadside deer hits in my area. Hunters used to keep the population in check, but with all the sports on TV to watch these days, they don't have time to hunt!

    Land spider tires.

Perfect tire for a Porsche Spyder? 🕷️

What’s your mileage limit for buying a used car?

Usually around 75k. Anything higher and the usual retort from Mrs. JDI is: "Why not just keep what you got?"

What's the worst you've hurt yourself working on cars?

Removing a power window door regulator (mid 60s Chevy Impala parts car). I unbolted the electric motor from the regulator while it was partially in the down position. It quickly expanded and cut my finger, requiring stitches. From that point forward, I only removed complete power regulators...

Advance, Autozone, O'Reilly, NAPA - Your Favorite

My local NAPA doesn't ask for my blankety-blank phone number everytime I purchase something. So, I'd say they are my fave for the most part.

    Cheap cars are back, but...

In the real world, people are spooked. On most TV commercials, people are doing the happy dance. Maybe the guy in the vid needs to shoot a commercial with people dancing at his car lot.

1993 Chevy 3/4 ton 5.7 liter (350) knock on startup

My 92 C1500 (5.7 w/161k) developed a startup knock last year, and soon got worse after engine warm-up around 5 or so miles. Oil pressure had been dropping a couple months before this took place. It ended up being main bearing/s. I went into the engine and replaced rod/main bearings & oil pump...

Any experience with Spectrum for internet?

Yes, trenched. The service box is on the opposite side of the hiway from my house, so I guess they have means to go under the road for cabling.
