Apparently syncros want less slippery fluid. You might try going back to regular non-synthetic ATF.

My mechanic just put Amsoil Univ. ATF in my 2001 BMW 330i ZF(A5S 325Z) that specs Esso 71411 LT. It's fine so far. I guess I'll know for sure in a few years. LOL
