Do you think my method was ok and accurate? Should I use shims on both sides if possible to tighten up the planetarys clearance?

I think I have located shims that work under the center support thrust washer. You think its best to shim under both to reduce the clearance?

I did but the opposite started in bottom and did zero the indicator with one .015 and two .010 I hade very little endplay so used two .015 shim and that did give me .005-.006 clearance. So guess the double .015 is the way Im going.

I have ordered the shims. Played some more with the endplay. Its not like checking endplay on a BBC or sbc were you get a distinct ”clunk” so with the dial indicator I tried one .015 and one .010 shim and used a screwdriwer to carefully pry got .018-.019 so guess the double .015 shims are they...

Piston is ready! My new clearance is .045”-.050” in direct with a 0.77” steel in the bottom.

No the steels, some say to use red scotch brite on them if you cant tumble them? Frictions in transmission fluid for 20 minutes?

Should I prep new steel plates or just install as they are? Std in forward and direct and guess kolene in intermediate since they are black?

Or maybe even face .047 an run a .077” steel in the bottom under the .090” since .060” is harder to find in Sweden and like 40$ each.

Ok many thanks! Think my best option is to face the piston .030” and add a .060” steel.
