I wonder if I’ll be ok using a wix 57202 with 9-11 gpm flow and 15psi bypass or wix 51060 non race with no bypass and also 9-11 gpm. Wix 51060 racing filter flows 28 gpm and no bypass

There is a guy on the gtr r35 page that has built motor from same place and uses wix 57202 instead of the 51060 racing filter. He said he has close to 15k miles without any problems from using that filter. What’s your opinion on that? And a lot of guys that track the gtr use oem filter with 15w50

It’s not about trusting them or not. A upgraded built motor will never be as reliable as oem motor.

Oil weight is based on clearances and climate. As long as the oil is a 50wt at operating temperature I should be good.

My main concern with using a 5w in a built motor spec for 15w, is what negative will it have? They are both a 50 once warmed up. Will I have burning oil with the 5w

He told me I would blow the seals in the vvt with 15w in the cold. And that was coming for a guy with 1500whp. I’m no where near there tho hahaha

Warranty was 12 months which passed already. Another guy on a forum for my car with a built motor said he uses the 15w50 down to only 50f. He said if the oil pressure gauge is pegged at 120 psi during cold start I should use the 15w and use something lighter into outside temp warms up.

Yeah the 61 micron rating is horrible. I’ll look up the HP4. I’ve so read about people using the racing filter on mercury racing boat engines. They didnt like the way the bearings looked when they had the motor refreshed.

Sounds good! I think I’ll put the 5w50 in for the for the 3-4 months it’s cold out then switch to the 15w50 for spring-fall

They are both the same brand. Motul 300v oil
