Well I usually change out twice a year. I accumulate about 5-6k a year. Right now the mileage is at 36k
Since the first oil change I have always used Mobil 1 5/30. However I do believe Mobil 1 has little Moly compared to say Havoline/Chevron. I don't mind changing oil more often...but I guess...
Any GM 4.3 owners out there who can suggest an oil for this engine? Synthetic or Conventional?
Truck is 2003, automatic, ocassionaly tows (2-4 times a month) 1500#, South FL climate.

I would like to limit my choices though to the M-1 or the Chevron...due to availability & cost. Basically just want to know if the Chevron will provide the same amount of protection.

I have been using Mobil 1 since day 1, and right now I have 20K.
I choose both of these oils because of availability, and then because of the price difference. Substantial savings in the Chevron @ 12.50 a case vs. the $23.00 for the mobil 1 6 Qts.
