I think flow is more important than pressure. Pressure is just easier to measure. The size of the engine oil passages are fixed by design, so by increasing viscosity to raise pressure, you decrease flow. Engine designers think about this kind of thing, and that is how recommendations for...
That is a nice truck. I think the split windshield rules out the truck being a 53 model. 53-54 had a one piece windshield. If it is a 53, it came with a first series 235 in it. The first series had an internal water pump. 2nd series 235 started in 55 and has an external water pump. I think your...
Just a thought for you. The lower intake manifold seals often leak on these engines, and oil drips down the block. You may wnat to check this area carefully.
Noob. The mania starts when you combine a sale with a rebate for free oil. There is then no stopping the frenzy. You will be hiding the oil from your family, dusting it daily, and breathlessly reporting your latest find to fellow addicts.
Oil consumption could be from leaky valve guide seals or from worn piston rings, or both. If the engine puts out smoke when you pull away after idling, and then the smoke goes away, that usually means the valve guide seal are leaking. If this is the case, you may be able to just replace the...
What I do is stuff some paper shop rags into the area below the oil filter lip. It is a bit awkward, but catches enough oil so that the rest is easily wiped up. I think the belly pan serves useful aerodynamic and moisture barrier functions, I would not remove it.

FWIW, here is some data on oil use in the VQ35. The engine seems to like Syntec, with 0W-30 being the best.
German Castrol 0-30 has a good reputation in the G-35. Read the site below for an analysis of various oils in the VQ35 engine.
