C'etait un Rendezvous A blast through Paris 1976

After doing a search, I was partially wrong - it was a Mercedes sedan and the director has confirmed. There's also a "making of" film out there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHn5Q...elated&search=

C'etait un Rendezvous A blast through Paris 1976

Much discussion about this on the Ferrari boards, consensus is that it's not a Ferrari as engine sounds do not always match the screen and the director has never confirmed that it was or was not a Ferrari. Some speculation that it was actually a Mercedes sedan. There's also a few frames where...

    Garage Lift Question

My parents have a 4-post Superlifts lift for their Corvette. They used to have a Lincoln Mark 8 that they kept underneath the Corvette. If it's just for storage you won't have to lift it as high. Their garage is one of those condo garages with the long sloping roof. The roof inside the garage...

Recommended oil for high milage car

I'd stick with a thicker 30 weight. GTX 10w30 is 10.6 cst @100 deg. c., you could go with either GTX high mileage or Pennzoil high mileage which are both 12 cst @ 100 deg.c. I don't think you need a 40 weight. 1 qt. per 3000 for that mileage is not too bad. Keep running 10w30 summer and 5w...

Using heavier oil in high mileage 5.7L Chevy

I was having the same problem with my '95 Olds LSS, 3.8l Supercharged engine, 110,000 miles. Car was a rental early in its life so who knows how it was broken in. The oil pressure light was starting to flicker at idle on hot days, running Supertech Synthetic 5W-30. I looked at the charts and...

Performance Friction Carbon Metallic brake pads

I like the NAPA Ceramix pads. Low dust, no noise, stopping power was as good as OEM pads on our 2000 Mazda MPV.

    Any thoughts on Pontiac's 3.6L v-6 engine?

Unfortunately, the GM minivans are the worst of the current GM vehicles according to quality scores and warranty work rates. I've read that it mostly has to do with design issues; new models were designed with reducing manufacturing defects in mind compared to older models. Because of this, the...

    Nitrogen tire fill

Race cars use nitrogen because they need their tire pressures to stay in as narrow a range as possible. There is very little benefit to using it in a passenger car, and I would never, ever pay for it. In fact, I won't even go to a gas station where they make you pay for air.

Anyone here use ceramic or titanium brake pads or

I used the NAPA Ceramix pads on our van. The OE pads were a ceramic compound, NAPA had these listed as OE replacement. Low noise, little dust, I'll be using them on my other car when the time comes.

supercharger maintence on 2000 Buick ParkAvenue

I tend to agree with your comment - I have an L67 in my '95 Olds LSS. I've driven non-SC'd LSS's, the extra grunt is nice, but the base 3800 produces enough low-end torque that I don't think the SC is necessary for what's really a highway cruiser. I know I'd much rather be buying regular gas and...

Advice on getting hybrid or good alternatives?

Great, if you have a source for hydrogen.

Cheap, low mileage vehicle, have some questions.

Sounds like you're making some good decisions. I'd go with a Cobalt. The Ecotec is a great engine. The manual is actually a Getrag unit.

How many are keeping their vehicles longer ?

I have 105,000 on my '95 Olds LSS. There are some rust issues underneath that will probably prevent it from making 200,000. The car has spent all of its life in Michigan and now Wisconsin, winters really take their toll. Even so, I should get to 150,000 pretty easily, not too bad considering I...

    Pontiac G8 (6.0L V8 with 362 HP)

Indeed, this is the replacement for the Grand Prix. In addition to the LS2, rumors are that the base 3.6l VVT V6 will be available in this car with a 6-speed manual. If pricing starts where people are saying (mid-20's), Pontiac should have a hit on their hands.
