Never thought about it that way... just 3.7qts... the oil is holding up well, or rather the engine is not harsh on the oil at all. Also factoring into the good numbers is the fact that this engine sees very few short trips, if any.

Sorry, can't answer this one... my daughter's ride. But I doubt there would be any descernible difference.

I ignore, or rather tell my daughter to ignore the maintenance minder, and shoot for my desired OCI... around 7K or so.

About 4 months since the last oil change this time around. At this rate, the Civic will hit the 100K mile mark around October... and it's doing the job we bought it for... providing mostly trouble free miles to my daughter as her first car. No real issue with fuel dilution as reported with...

    2022 GR86, PP 5W-20, 4,899 OCI

3rd change here. Looks like it's still a tad high on Cu and Si, but trending in the right direction. We're in South FL, so no need for the recommended 0W-20. Refilled with the same PP 5W-20 and plan on sticking with it and 5K OCIs for a few changes, unless there's a compelling reason to switch...

Most of that went over my head 😁… what would you suggest?

Good info to know. I'll be perusing those Honda forums to learn about this issue. Thanks!

The cost savings is minimal (~$4 per 6-month period), actually lauhgable  but experimenting with other oils can be interesting. So in truth, the cost savings may not be my primary motivator.

Going to try inching up to a longer OCI, probably to 9K then 10 and eventually 12K. It all depends on remembering to do so. The Civic averages anywhere from 1,300 to 2,000 miles per month... young folks haven't developed a pattern of life yet so I can't create a reminder to prompt me to change...

You know, AFTER purchasing the Civic for my daughter, I found out that these Honda 1.5 turbo engines had fuel dilution issues... I thought this was the end of Honda reliability and I was going to have a major headache on my hand with this car. So I faithfully conducted UOAs, did a little...

I agree... the numbers have come down quite a bit. I will likely run to 10K on this fill of PP 5W20.

Pretty sure it was 5 qts PUP 5W20 and 1.25 qts of PP 0W20.

Here we go again with another boring post... This fill is mostly PUP 5W20... 5 qts PUP 5W20 and 1.25 qts of PP 0W20. Replaced with PP 5W20. UOA looks good, nothing truly standing out. At this rate I will likely have this car with me for another 10 years.

Still had the bottle in the garage... SMH... I think I'm losing my ability to read. It is 5W30. But I also have 5W20 PP and PUP. All the yellow bottles must have me confused.

Yes... 5W20. This car calls for 0W20 but with the fuel dilution issues reported by some owners, the year-round hot climate of South Florida, as well as this old head thinking "thicker is better" , I went down the 5W30 road. Based on feedback from some members here, I decided to try the Euro L...
