Justin, the Shell RTS 5W-40 would be an excellent choice.

Best oil for Generator ????

Hi Justin, I did not notice that NH was your state. However in the summer, my suggestion would be OK.
Delvac 1 (AKA M1 5-40 turbo diesel truck and T-SUV) may be a better choice for year round use. Any of the diesel oils suggested will provide enough protection.
The delvac 1 family of products are outstanding.

Thanks for the advice guys. I've decided to run
Shell Rotella T 5w40 syn, with 50 hr/1 year OCI's.
I will be returning the $6.00 quart of Mobil 1 in favor of the Shell tommorow. I will continue to run the
Formula Shell 10w30 until I get to the 8 hour mark and switch over to the RTS.
I currently have 5 hours on the Gen-set.

Just an update, Last month we ha a 10 hour power outage.
My gen set ran great, I kept the dino in the unit till the end of the outage, then I changed over to Shell RTS 5w40.
I have about 19 hours on the gen set now, and it is running great! Thanks again for the advise guys,
