Wife's car with 9990 miles, OEM air and oil filters, driven gently except perhaps once weekly when I get behind the wheel. No makeup oil added. Get about 47 mpg in mixed driving, 50 on a trip. Analysis by Blackstone:

Blackstone Comments: We tend to find high wear metals and silicon in new engines like this one, but the only thing lingering significantly above average is lead. It's from wear-in at bearings, and it should drop down in the next sample. . . . No moisture, antifreeze, or fuel found. The viscosity was normal for 5W-40 oil. Looking good! . . .
MY comments: As the TDI takes a while to break in, this analysis doesn't mean too much except as a baseline for the next one. I refilled with Castrol TXT and will do the next change at 20,000 miles.
