This UOA was posted recently by mikemc. It is Havoline 5W30. For about a dollar less per quart than Durablend looks pretty good.

Doesn't Durablend have some type of specific friction modifier? Would this show up in a UOA/VOA? I just put the GF-4 Durablend in my Tacoma and it runs better than it ever has before. I like the stuff, and the price is right

I think we may have another Valvoline user TallPaul. Yes Durablend has friction modifiers which increase your MPG and my Rodeo loves the stuff also. My truck has never been happier or quieter.

Dura blend SM 9-2-04.
5W 20 CCS cP (-30C) = 4400
5W 30 CCS cP (-30C) = 4800

5W 20 MRV TP-1 cP (C) 16000 (-35C)
5W 30 MRV TP-1 cP (C) 16000 (-30C)
I don't believe that you can achive these numbers without some help.Poss PAO OR ESTHERS or any organic add pack. I am impressed with the Mini Rotary Vis,these blends should flow pretty good .My 2 cents worth. After a few UOA'S we find out' before we start bashing any product. Thanks Gentlemen.

Just dug this one up from the archives... Makes me 2nd guess Valvoline and their concept on making oils meet spec.

I got away from Valvoline motor oils and now I'm back using them. I raced many different souped up V-8's using Valvoline and never had a problem. On the other hand I used Pennzoil and kept tearing up bearings.

I've got Valvoline 5w-30 Durablend in my 96 Neon and it is doing great but, I better go out and change it since some here make it sound like the motors going to blow using Valvoline (LOL!). I've used just about every brand in this car and they all are about par with one another. I have seen a slight increase in mileage per tank using the Durablend, which is about the same as I got using Havoline.

There all good.

Yep, I used Durablend in my F150 and the Aerostar for many years. Then I discovered Maxlife. I really like Maxlife, but still have some Durablend 10w40 (Rated ACEA A3 so must be pretty good stuff). I may add the CD-2 High Mileage additive to the Durablend though.

The values for z and p in the VOA posted are good for a SM oil, but I'd rather see 1200+ ppm zinc.
