Ok, so I've decided to pull an oil sample from my Jetta to see how things are. If I'm doing one, I might as well do something that truly worries me: test the ATF in my Tundra. Yes, I know, just change the oil already; but I'm wondering how this lifetime fill is really doing. Prior to changing it, anyhow.

Is the standard test ok, or should I ask for, err, something else also?

you definitely want TAN for ATF.

Normally Polaris/OAI will give TBN for motor oil and TAN for other lubes like ATF, gear oil.

Do you have a sample pump? If you use a sample pump, pump some into bottle, pour into clean paper cup (dump back in latter) and then take the sample. You can catch some crud pushing the sample tube in that you do not want in sample.

Ah, thanks. In a different thread it was pointed out that I want to get the sample pump, and that would make life easier.
