Comments:

Calendar-wise, this is the longest time I have left the oil in at about 15 months.
I no longer commute on the bike so it takes a long time to go 8,000 miles
Note that this oil was the older "SL" version from my stash and I used LC20 during this OCI.

Blackstone Labs Test results:

Man, Rotella runs great in everything. The High zinc and phosphorous shows that its an SL version.

I dont know how much iron is too much for a bike, but numbers seem good except for iron . considering 8k on oil and decently high mileage on your bike , I wouldnt worry about it.

Thanks for the post, may start using Rotella in my buddies bikes from now on.

very nice numbers.
actually the iron and aluminum and copper are pretty darn good for 8k miles.
yes it sheared to a 30wt (65 vs 68) but that is expected in the 5w40.

nickle of 1 and lead of 2 show either scatter or some oddity.
shocked at no silver from the stoners.

if you believe the insoluables at 0.3 that is a touch high. normally at 0.2.

flash of 405 is nice showing no fuel.

14 year old bike running like new. nice!!!

no reason to change anything but your underwear!

Hello Rick ---

Thanks for sharing this report. It certainly serves to verify the selection of RT6 as my major oil of choice for my bike. A great "comfort factor" for sure. Like you, I don't commute any more so my riding is for fun and recreation so it takes me a while too to wind up an OCI

Have Fun on your ST1100 !!! Cheers --- Bob

One of Honda's greatest ever motorcycles. And one of their best engines. Those are great results. I have used that stuff in my FJR to good effect. As Steve said above, leave it the heck alone.

John.

Nice UOA.

No reason not to extend the OCI further; get some payback from the T6.

I have a buddy who has 150k+ on his ST100; engines are like granite. Other issues have come and gone; swingarm rotted from salt (replaced) and diff bearing went out (replaced). The two were probably related ultimately ...

The oil still has plenty of life but I've been trying to run all of the oils to 8,000 miles so that I could do some comparisons. I have a pretty long history of UOAs on the site for this bike.
One problem with my plan is that I usually only run 1 OCI on the oils and have some contamination from the last oil.
