Let me clarify: if your device only says that it supports "SD" and does not mention SDHC, like most older devices, then SDHC card will not work in it. I've got a bunch of few year old cameras and card readers that don't support SDHC media.


That is very true. If you have an older SD camera, SDHC card won't work. SDHC camera is backward compatible with SD card.

The main reason is that SD uses byte addressing and it max out at 4GB (but no one really make a 4GB SD card), but SDHC uses sector addressing and I think you need to max it out in the 2TB level (512x more).


SDXC is the next standard, but not really doing much for today's device unless you have something that need much higher speed than the 20-30MB SD/SDHC currently support. In the future it will support larger capacity than SDHC and support exFAT file system, and some standard spec change like speed class definition change, etc, mostly transparent to consumers.

I've learnt a lot.
The camera is being shipped from another branch, so i did not have the manual.
I'll order a card from amazon, and save myself $38+ tax
